🏆 Congratulations to the 2025 Western Australian Young Achiever of the Year, Joshua (Flewnt) Eggington!

Joshua (Flewnt) Eggington of Palmyra is leading grassroots change through creativity, cultural pride, and community-driven storytelling. Joshua is a proud Noongar Wongi hip-hop artist, mentor, and cultural leader known for using music as a tool for empowerment, healing, and truth-telling. Through youth workshops in schools, remote communities, and detention centres, he helps young people find their voice and pride in identity. He founded FN FOCUS, a First Nations-led music label supporting Indigenous artist development and sustainable careers. Flewnt’s award-winning work includes songs like Flip the Shame and Never Forget, and he has performed at major festivals and on international stages, including America’s Got Talent and SXSW.

We Are WM is a trauma-informed, evidence-based not-for-profit equipping young people with the knowledge to navigate consent, healthy relationships, and media. co-founded by Nicolette Beard. With a team of 20+ volunteers and over 200 partnering organisations, they’ve reached 20,000+ youth across Western Australia. Through digital innovation, community-led planning, and partnerships with schools and festivals, their programs foster empowerment, challenge stigma, and promote safety. Nicolette’s leadership has been nationally recognised—she was named the 2024 Young Western Australian of the Year, and her co-founder Kate Raston was nominated for Young Australian of the Year.

Jasmine Powell is setting a new standard for what hospitality can be: inclusive, locally sourced, and deeply connected. Jasmine is the visionary behind Tapas Addict and Powell’s Fromagerie & Wine Bar—two innovative, community-first hospitality ventures. Starting from a social media-based grazing board business, Jasmine built Tapas Addict into a multi-dimensional brand. She then launched Powells Fromagerie and Wine Bar, a unique wine and cheese bar now featured in WA Good Food Guide’s Top 25 Bars and Urban List’s Best Bars in Perth. She led every step—from licensing to supplier partnerships—and introduced progressive staffing models and high-impact community events like Perth’s largest book club.

🏆 Congratulations to the Winner of the 2025 Aroha Care Group Health and Wellbeing Award, Olivia Rose Comito!

Olivia Rose Comito of South Perth blends scientific excellence with compassion. Olivia is a 23-year-old PhD candidate and research fellow at Warpnine, working to improve outcomes for people with pancreatic, gastrointestinal and rare cancers. Olivia co-led a groundbreaking microbiome sub-study within the iLSTA clinical trial, exploring how gut bacteria influences treatment response in pancreatic cancer, which earned national and international recognition. Olivia now leads Australia’s first microbiome study into neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer and is co-developing a trial for upper gastro-intestinal cancers. Olivia’s research has been presented at leading oncology conferences, and is helping to shape a more personalised, patient-focused approach to cancer care. Olivia has also volunteered with St John Ambulance and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

🏆 Congratulations to the Winner of the 2025 Masonic Care WA / Freemasons WA Community Service and Volunteering Award, Peta Baer!

Peta Baer of Newman is championing equity, infrastructure, and opportunity across the inland Pilbara. Peta reignited the Newman Gymnastics Club after 15 years, growing it from 50 to over 100 athletes, securing $30,000 in equipment funding, and coaching 16.5 hours weekly. As a Scout leader, she has mentored more than 150 youth and fundraised $20,000 for national and international events. Peta also leads the Newman Neighbourhood Centre, where she secured a $300,000 donation to open an Outside School Hours Care facility. Elected to the Shire of East Pilbara in 2021, she drives inclusive local development and serves as Vice Chair of the Chamber of Commerce.
