Well … this year has certainly been a time for this little brown duck. 🙋🏽‍♀️⁣

Like most people I’ve recently ruminated about life with, I’m skidding towards that end of year finish line with 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘁 (thanks Civil Celebrant Perth - Annette Carone for the ridiculously accurate imagery). 🤯🫠🫣⁣
⁣
Whilst at times, the pressure of navigating full time work, 60 couple moments, 3 kids, an occasionally fifo husband and just doing everything in my power to be a decent human being has been overwhelming CRUSHING. I gotta admit, 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘆! ⚡️⚡️⁣
⁣
The “balance” others seemed to have mastered still very much eludes me. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗜’𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲; taking one day at a time, determined to put every fibre of my under 5 foot stature into all the things that fill my cup, in some way shape or form. 💥⁣
⁣
It remains a tremendous privilege to be part of the wedding industry and be surrounded by such diverse and extraordinary talent (many of whom I call my “framily”), frequent venues that feel like coming home and to have couples that continue to seek me out and insist I be part of their stories, their legacies. 🖤⁣
⁣
So I sit here watching the boys frolick in the pool, listening to my husband laugh at nonsensicle memes and relishing the chance to take some time out in Sri Lanka with my ever patient and forgiving squad 🇱🇰 (we finally get the chance to put my father to rest 🥹).⁣
⁣

And just like that, it would seem my 2020/2021 wedding season has come to a close. I’m not even entirely sure where that time has gone - I feel like my diary might be punking me. 😵‍💫👀⁣

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀. There was lockdowns, postponements, grief, trauma, exhaustion, frustration and a teeny tiny bit of “what the heck am I even doing here?” 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️⁣

There were times where all I could do was plaster a smile on my face and hope that the dumpster fire blazing around me didn’t singe my eyebrows! 😞🔥😯⁣

But through it all, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 … 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗬𝗢𝗨!!!! 👈🏽👆🏽👉🏽👇🏽⁣

Today is our 𝘯𝘰𝘯-𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘺 and we just got back from 4 days of bliss down south. ✨
⁣
You see, we got married leap year 2016. So ... most years we just take the opportunity to get away, enjoy some tiny human free time and of course, to 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘥. 🥰⁣
⁣
But every four years ... on that glorious day that is 𝟮𝟵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆, we decided we’re gonna throw a big ole’ shindig and celebrate us, celebrate sticking together ... celebrate the s**t out of MARRIAGE. 💃🏽🕺🏻⁣

We also decided that at that celebration, we would do a renewal of vows. 𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴. 🖤⁣

Yes, I know it’s only four years ... a drop in the ocean to most. I know that most people do an ROV on major anniversaries. But we aren’t most people and we are also realistic in this day and age. 🙋🏽‍♀️⁣

Yesterday, I went “LIVE” on Insta to try, in my own lil way, to help couples figure out how the sh*t to approach wedding postponements. [𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢 𝘐𝘎𝘛𝘝 𝘵𝘢𝘣 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 - 📱].⁣

Go back over the agreements you’ve signed with vendors - be informed. Know what your obligations are for the scenarios you mulling over. 📑⁣

Decide which vendors in your posse are non-negotiable; those legends who you MUST have as part of your moment. 🤞⁣

Use technology to help get a new date. Consider a scheduling app like DOODLE or a good ol’ excel spreadsheet. Be prepared to compromise though and consider alternative days of the week. (Mid-week is a vibe 🙌🏽) 👩‍💻⁣

Once you decide on the new reality, don’t hesitate (dates are constantly being snapped up). Get it all squared away - ASAP. ✅⁣

⁣In her own understated way, this is the level of “sh*t yes I just got married vibes” she exuded as the paperwork was signed (gah I love her). 🤩👰🏼⁣

Now, I know that there is an ENORMOUS amount of heavy that people are enduring right now; 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤 𝘣𝘶𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘺, 𝘧𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴. 🖤⁣

I’ve been lucky enough to be part of some BRILLIANT wedding open days the last few weeks where I got the chance to have some laughs, chat to amazing peeps and of course, do some awkward Dizzle dancing. 😁🥰💃🏽⁣

It reinforced in my mind that we have some RIDIC VENDOR TALENT here on the west saiddddeee (😎🙌🏽) which can make the act of choosing your wedding crew a little daunting and a little overwhelming at times.😬🤔⁣
