On the hardest days, I close my eyes and go back to him.

Not to the sadness.

To him.

His voice.

His smile.

His little ways.

The moments that made ordinary days feel extraordinary simply because he was there.

And every time I remember him that way, something inside me becomes a little steadier.

Because my son is not only part of the hardest chapter of my life.

He is part of the reason I keep turning the pages.

He reminds me what love looks like.

What connection feels like.

What it means to have loved someone so completely.

I carry him with me.

Not just in my heart.

In the woman I continue to become.

It's taken a couple of days to catch my breath and process all the happenings of the past weekend & WOW! What a weekend it was 🥰

Sunday was a day spent at the Boya Community Centre with the fabulous Julie Carlton Celebration of Life Celebrant and many others, old friends and new ones, for the Dying to Know Expo. The lineup was compiled with many wonderful speakers, opening their hearts and mouths, filling our heads with powerful stories, knowledge and passion. There was also music, art, flowers & coffins. I just loved seeing and being a part of the amazing community of death care workers coming together with their beautiful hearts, showing what we are all about and that YOU have so many options and much choice as to what happens at the end of your life, how you are farewelled and support for those we love who remain after you are gone.

Thank you to everyone that came along with curiosity and asked many wonderful questions, told touching stories, there were many laughs had, a few shared tears, many warm embraces and just so much love and compassion in the room. My heart is still overflowing with joy 💜🫶🥰. This is what we need so much more of...bringing death back home
