Modifications: Are they are a yes? Or should you stay away?
A lot of the time we can love a dress but it's just missing one or two little things that we would make it perfect!
But do you decide to change it?
PROS:
- you get to make a wedding dress truly one of a kind
- you can make adjustments to make you more comfortable/modest eg. adding straps, more cups or even sleeves
- changing a thing or two may be a simpler/cheaper option over a fully custom dress
- you can add your personality into the gown
CONS:
- Major changes can be difficult to visualise
- The end product doesn't technically exist till it's made and may not live up to your expectations
- sometimes modifications in the manufacture process can cost a lot
- you need be VERY specific with the changes you are wanting!
- you might hate what it looks like
In my opinion, I think that simple changes such as adding a strap, extending trains, changing linings or adding buttons are definitely not risky and it makes the gown a little more special knowing that you've put your own touches on it.
Unless you are super confident and a great visualiser, bigger changes to the structure of the gown should definitely be properly considered!
