What a great wedding day.
This was the last wedding ceremony I performed for the year 2017 – and it was amongst the most perfect.
This couple wanted a beautiful surrounding, and something special, without becoming too expensive. About 30 guests were invited.
They loved the beach. They wanted a rather private location, and with a reception that would not break the bank.
We came up with the idea of a beach in the metro area - but what about crowds, noise, wind etc?
Then why not have the marriage ceremony starting at 8:00am?
Good idea We considered privacy on the grassed area overlooking the beach early in the morning, sea breeze not in yet, and comfortable temperature for everyone.
The couple drove along the beach front, checking out what the area would be like at 8:00am. City Beach, filled the bill exactly.
What about the reception? Would a real wedding breakfast with the usual breakfast foods, pancakes, eggs and bacon etc amongst a smorgasboard of enjoyable food fit the bill?
The requirements, were all met. The serene location, (no wind problems, the sea breeze comes in later), and with the busy Christmas season, guests would not be tied up for the day.
What is very important, the cost was far less than expected.
I performed a civil ceremony which was short and sweet.
Speakers were in place so all could hear, (provided by me) and we played the music chosen by the couple.
The bride wore an elegant, simple gown, and had her bridal attendants beautifully attired, and the groom and his attendants wore dark trousers and white shirts. However, for this style of wedding, a wide choice of style is available.
This wedding was easy to organise, and execute.
I will write later about marriages in parks, gardens, homes – both private and in my office, and reception venues.
