As I posted about last week, I was excited to be speaking as a part of the Shire of Mundaring Expo, Dying to Know Day event on Sunday.

Thank you to Julie Carlton (Celebrant) for inviting me to speak, and to all the other exhibitors and speakers who were welcoming, complimentary of my presentation and informative on their own amazing topics, all linked to death, dying, death literacy in the community, grief, loss, knowledge sharing and all the things!!!

Presentation can be powerful, as you can share what you know, how you know it and where it fits into other people's lives.

All my years of learning from the fabulous Dr Paula Smith helped immensely with my presentation skills and the messages were received softly, gently and with great meaning on the day.

"Dying, and Knowing. They are not the same thing. We will all die, but we don't all know". . . . . . . .

Grateful that now hopefully, a few more people "know" where to start, how to ask and have access to many more resources! ⚰️ 💌

Very much looking forward to my presentation this Sunday at the Dying To Know Day event at Boya Library.

Dying to know day - always on August 8th is a national campaign encouraging Australians to open up meaningful conversations about death, dying and grief. This particular event, as with all events over the years, will create a safe space to share, ask questions, and reflect.

This year's theme is "Nobody Knows", reminding people of the importance of sharing your final wishes, because if nobody knows our final wishes, they never will.

My particular section of the day (see schedule below) is all about "The Future of Funerals", so linking the two together, I look to explore final wishes, funerals, planning!! It's something I've been banging on about for years. I've done this via my Podcast Death the podcast and blogs and meeting others.

I look forward to meeting more like minded "death literate" people on Sunday, hope to see you there!!

After promising to deliver "A Blog a month". . . . . .I've crafted this month's - "10 Things I’ve Learned About Life, From Death"

A few years ago, I recorded a podcast episode on Hashtag Death which still rings true today. Two lessons stand out:

✨ Don’t look down — show up for people who are grieving; and
✨ Plan, plan, plan — it’s an act of love, not fear.

These truths haven’t changed, because death hasn’t changed.

2016 was also a HUGE year for my lil Biz, married one of Ned’s school teachers as my first wedding of 2016 in January - - - right through to a NYE wedding (final 2 pics) on 31/12/2016 celebrating Judaism ✡️ in ceremony including the seven blessings and smashing of the glass. So honoured to be involved in this ceremony which I will always remember………
Also married my sis in law this year and some other very special people I went to school with……

I also went to TAFE and became Qualified as a Trainer / Assessor AND officially began doing funerals - see my blue stationery instead of pink.

Phew, exhausting
Hahahaha
All whilst living in a shed!!!!!
