Effective communication is the key to successfully navigating the kink world, whether in a partnership or solo.

Knowing how to clearly discuss consent, safety, your desires, and limits, how to end a scene or stop play, how to properly check in during and after scenes, and how to communicate effective aftercare and reflection are imperative.

Verbal first aid techniques will also be touched on.

This workshop will discuss different communication techniques and give strategies to help attendees learn by giving participants skills that can not only be used within the kink world but can be integrated into many areas of their lives.

Calling all hot nerds! Casual old school geek night on Thursday. Bring your favourite board/card games and come nerd out for a casual play night with friends.

Two Classic Nintendo consoles will be set up ready for you to duke it out with your mates to be the King or Queen of Mario Kart.

No dress code, but grab a ticket via Eventbrite - and help us with our planning :)

Meal Deal - A kilo of wings, choice of Buffalo, Smokey BBQ, or Maple/Chilli/Garlic sauce or vegan jackfruit tacos plus a pint, or house wine for $20.

Brace for impact - as we show you how to incorporate bare hands to floggers to feathers to paddles.

You will learn how to:
*properly warm-up
*find the sweet spots as well as avoid the dangerous ones
*how to provide decedent aftercare and
*how not to ( or to on request ) leave marks.
It's the perfect way to dip your toe in for the curious and new to kink. There is also lots of time for open q&a.

Do you enjoy kink but struggle knowing how to build the experience of turning your fantasies into reality?

Have you ever wanted to learn about building a scene from scratch and taking others experiences to another level?

Planning out everything you are going to do prior to and negotiating full consent is an important skill everyone should learn prior to playing. Having everything planned and properly discussed is an important role in harm minimisation. Scene setting doesn’t have to be boring, done correctly it can also be erotic foreplay.

This workshop focuses on ways to build scenes to ensure they are always really enjoyable, safe, juicy, and completely consensual for all involved.
It will cover -
Consent and scene negotiations
Pacing and flow
Tool selection
Recovery when something goes wrong
Planning and negotiating a scene with the class model
The negotiated class scene will then be demonstrated at the completion of the class following the scene design structure.
All questions are welcomed. All experience levels are welcome.

Come say goodbye to your little neighborhood kink bar.

KINK - for the new and curious
THURSDAY, JUNE 10, 2021 AT 7 PM

Never experienced anything kink before? Curious but too nervous to attend an event?
Lots of questions but you just don’t know where to start?
Tonight we open our doors to the curious and absolute beginners.
A super relaxed night (with geeky name tags ) where we introduce ourselves, who we are and what we do at Akademi, run through lots of foundation basics such as what is all this weird kink stuff about?

What exactly is B**M?
What is consent and how do I get it?
How do I establish strong boundaries when I don’t know what my boundaries are yet?
Why is the furniture so weird and what is this strange thing and how do I use it?

We will run some basic sh***ri and impact demonstrations and encourage everyone to have a go and discover if there’s anything that they might enjoy and want to turn into a future explorative journey. This is a really relaxed night of open conversation and an opportunity to ask lots of questions and meet our team and other newbies.
A great way to find out if kink may be for you and see what Akademi is about.

Dress code - something you feel sexy in you can also comfortably move around in.
