Sometimes life moves faster than the calendar.

A client came to us two days before his event with a simple ask: make his suit and shirt fit.

The burgundy trousers needed the waist taken in, the creases at the back resolved, the leg tapered, and the hem shortened. The burgundy jacket was too big through the waist, chest and hips so we took in the sides and back to bring it to his shape. The grey jacket needed the sleeves shortened. The shirt was too full to sit cleanly under the jacket, so we took in the sides and added two darts to the back so it followed his body the way it should.

Four garments. Two days.

If you have a suit for a wedding, or a wedding party that needs theirs altered, we work with men's formalwear alongside our bridal and bridesmaid alterations. And if time is short, reach out. We'll always do our best.

When this bride first tried on her gown, the bust area was a size 14. By collection day, it fit her like it had been made for her at a size 8 🤍

She also wanted the neckline completely reimagined and draped. Cherry constructed it entirely from fabric brought in by the bride.

Structured gowns at this level of construction are not straightforward to resize. The diagonal boning that gives the bodice its waist-snatching shape adds real complexity, particularly where the boning meets the zipper. It requires experience, patience and a specialist eye.

If your gown needs more than a standard alteration, we would love to hear from you.

Some gowns just demand to be worn perfectly 💙

This lavishly embellished navy gown came to Cherry needing serious attention: the bust and waist taken in, the cups fully replaced, the hem levelled, and the delicate mesh around the cleavage carefully restored.

Heavily embellished and structured gowns require a specialist hand. Not every alteration studio has the experience to handle them.

Whether it’s a wedding gown, a formal dress or a special occasion piece, if your gown needs expert attention, we’d love to hear from you.

Many of you loved our recent reel showing Cherry hand-mending the delicate lace holes in this gorgeous vintage wedding gown, so we wanted to share the full journey from start to finish.

Watch as Cherry conducts the very first consultation, carefully pinning the sleeves, bust and hem, identifying every area that needed love, before you see the behind-the-scenes craftsmanship and the moment our bride tries it on for the final fitting.

The result is a gown that feels like it was made for this moment. 🤍

If you have a treasured gown, whether it’s your own, your mother’s or your grandmother’s, that deserves a second chance, we’d love to help restore it.

She came to us with 2 dresses that weren’t working. She left with one that was made for her. Cherry redesigned the front and back from scratch. Same fabric, completely different dress.

A 1940 wedding dress. 86 years old.

When it arrived, we identified 20 holes in the lace alone. Even when stored carefully, silk fibres can become brittle over decades due to oxidation.

But the lace was only the beginning.

The bodice needed to be taken in at the bust and waist to fit a different body than the one it was made for. The sleeves were loose and needed to be taken in so the lace and beading would sit flat against the arm. The line where the bodice meets the skirt was sitting asymmetrically on the client's frame, which we corrected so the dress would hang the way it was always meant to. The zipper was modified so the bodice opens further, making it possible to get in and out of without a fight.

For the lace, Cherry sourced the repair material from the hemming work. Each hole was assessed individually, and repaired by hand using whichever technique the size, shape, and position called for. Some were patched from above, some supported from below and some didn’t need lace to be patched.

This is the work that doesn't photograph itself. It has to be done before anything beautiful can happen.

One day before the wedding.

The dress wasn’t working as it should —
no support at the bust,
pressure through the waist,
and shape not sitting right.

Everything was adjusted together —
so the fit feels secure, balanced, and natural again.

And in the end,
it’s not just how it looks —
it’s how she feels in it.

It’s not the fabric —
it’s the structure and shaping underneath.
Refined to lift, smooth, and sit exactly right.

Emergency case — one day before the wedding.

The bust wasn’t holding,
slipping down and creating pressure through the waist.

Reshaped the cups,
secured the fit,
and built support from inside — so it stays, effortlessly.

Sometimes it’s not about tightening,
it’s about understanding where the support should come from.

The right structure changes everything.
