A secret marriage ceremony this morning on our front lawn for two very private people from countries that don’t have marriage equality. We were lucky enough to have no rain showers, and the sun even came out for the duration of the ceremony. Congrats to both of you! Last week I married these two legends 💙

This week, a gift arrived to help me “remember them” — a silver bottle opener engraved with their surnames (as if I could ever forget), wrapped in paper printed with their names, and finished with a thank you written in both of their first languages.

Thoughtful, joyful, and completely unnecessary — which somehow makes it perfect.

This is the kind of connection I love creating with couples: warm, personal, and full of meaning (and sometimes very good stationery).

When Ido married Earl on Saturday, we couldn’t have known how prophetic the following words from their ceremony would be: ‘We are gathered here on a significant day in the Jewish calendar. Today, December 13, 2025, is Shabbat Mevarchim, the blessing of the upcoming month of Tevet, and it falls during the first week of Hanukkah, which begins tomorrow night.’ We then introduced the breaking of the glasses, a tradition that reminds us of people whose lives have been shattered by discrimination, prejudice and persecution. Profound words, indeed, given the horrendous events at Bondi Beach, 24 hours later. Thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.
