Imagine you’re DIYing your wedding flowers and the hardest part won’t always be arranging them, it’s knowing exactly what to buy and where to put the stems.

Most couples either buy far too many flowers and waste hundreds of dollars, or they don’t buy enough and end up with small and unbalanced bouquets or missing arrangements on the day.

As a florist, every wedding starts with what we call a flower recipe. It’s the customised plan that tells us:

* Exactly which flowers and foliage to order.
* How many stems of each variety are needed.
* How many stems go into every bouquet, buttonhole and arrangement.
* What’s in season and what will give the best value.
* When to order and collect everything so the flowers are at their best
This is for the couple that aren’t after the full florist service, but trust me Hunny, these blueprints will save you big bucks if you’re going to attempt it yourself!
