Heartbroken is an understatement.
The wind yesterday won. It destroyed so much of the hard work I’ve poured into this display over literal months. Coming home to see one of my new 12ft props completely snapped was absolutely shattering. It hadn’t fallen from the base, which was fully secured — it snapped at the ankles, and the metal frame was completely bent by the sheer force of the wind.
With my heart pounding, I walked into my haunted house walkthrough — something I’ve been pouring two months of late nights, creativity, and energy into, and it was torn apart piece by piece by the wind. All I could do was stand there, tears in my eyes, watching everything I’d worked so hard on continue to be ripped apart right in front of me.
To some, these may just seem like pieces on display. But for me, this is passion and investment — my love for building something magical for the community. I spend so much time and effort creating, sourcing, and bringing in new items. Many are imported from America, and this particular piece took six months to arrive, not even mentioning the cost. This is late nights, sore hands, and the excitement of creating something bigger than myself. This is my creativity, Every detail, every piece, every idea I’ve brought to life has come from countless hours, effort, and heart.
Our display is supposed to open this weekend, and I will not let the wind stop me. I’ll rebuild, repair, and keep going, because this is what I love, and nothing can take that away.
My hope is that when you visit, you feel the love, the time, and the heart that goes into every inch of these displays — and that your families make moments together that become memories, and that it brings our community a little closer. That’s always been the goal.
I wanted to share this little behind-the-scenes glimpse: What looks fun and magical also comes with blood, sweat, and tears — and a lot of heart.
I’ll be sharing all the times, dates, and details for our display very shortly — stay tuned!
