Far from home, but never far from who we are . . .
We looked around and saw hundreds of Myanmar faces laughing, dancing, splashing, and celebrating together under one roof in Melbourne . . .
And in that moment, every single one of us felt it . . .
That warmth . . .
That belonging . . .
That feeling of being home . . .
This wasn't just a water festival. This was our community saying loudly and proudly we are still here.
Our culture is still alive. And nothing will ever take that from us . . .
Yes, we carry pain. We carry guilt. Every single day, our hearts ache for what is happening back home for the people we love, for the streets we miss, for the country that still bleeds. That never goes away . . .
But we also carry something else . . . each other.
We chose to celebrate the traditions our parents gave us, and their parents before them . . .
We chose Thingyan because Thingyan is ours, and no one can ever silence it . . .
This beautiful, unforgettable evening was made possible by so many incredible people . .
you showed up. In massive numbers.
With so much energy and love. You are this event. ❤️
The laughter, the splashing, the tears of joy, the smiles that stretched ear to ear, all of it has been beautifully immortalized by our incredibly talented photographers The MOMENTs and SAI_87.
We don't forget. We won't forget . . .
We carry our roots wherever we go and we keep moving forward, together . . .
Drop a comment if you were there and tag someone who needs to join us next year! 😄
See you all next year . . . .
Once again, Thank you everyone !
