Archer Shepherd and the Open Sky Band at CresFest 2026 (collaboratively featuring Archer, Big Mabel Management Skunkworks, and the Creswick Brass Band) has been officially announced as a finalist for Community / Cultural Project of the Year at the 2026 Australian Folk Music Awards (AFMAs)
The awards will be held at Brunswick Ballroom which along with Big Mabel Management has a strong connection with Terang

Well done everyone, this performance will be coming to the Camperdown and Terang area next year.

A week to go to the Cha Cha 5 + 1 concert followed by a meet and greet at the Mt. Noorat Hotel and a possible random performamce at the pub. A big thank you to Will Ewing from The Brunswick Ballroom for making this concert possible.

So ChaCha5+1 is an unusual name for a band, however the word on the street is that when the members got together to tour Georgia (the European one not the American one) they encountered on that tour a special Georgian drink called Chacha. So group realising they needed a name they picked ChaCha 5 + 1 being five traditional instruments plus piano.

The history of New Orleans Jazz is the history of divergent musical communities
"New Orleans’s jazz is a 20th-century type of collectively improvised ensemble music that draws from several sources: ragtime, blues, marches (syncopated brass bands), African American religious music (gospel hymns), European classical music, popular song, minstrelsy, and musicals. ChaCha5+1 will bring some of that history to the The Chapel on October 18th.

It has been almost a year since the first performance at The Chapel which of course is The Niel Black Memorial Presbyterian Church in Noorat. Here are the artists that have performed since late September 2025. Let us know who were your favourites.

The next gig The Chapel is the ChaCha 5+1 Traditional New Orleans Jazz band. Their first performance in Australia will be Noorat. This is on the 18th October . In the Noorat French Quarter there will be a coffee van and two businesses open for perusal. Georgina Conheady Miliner Studio and The Beehive's French Collection Antique Store. Both businesses will be open from 2pm to 3:30pm and doors open The Chapel at 3:30pm.
Arrive early and enjoy a stroll in the French Quarter before settling into a traditional New Orleans Jazz session nielblackmemorialpresbyterianchurch.
