Weddings, funerals and memorial services

Can have up to 100 people. This includes gatherings after services. There needs to be room for:
4 square metres per person indoors
2 square metres per person outdoors

NSW COVID-safe current guidelines for Weddings…
You can have a maximum of 150 people at a wedding or a gathering following a wedding service, subject to the 4 square metre rule. You must complete and register a COVID-19 Safety Plan for your event.

Up to 20 people in the wedding party are permitted on the dance floor. There cannot be rotation of people on the dance floor beyond the official wedding party.

People attending will be required to provide their name and contact details so that they can be used for contact tracing.

For outdoor weddings at a hospitality venue:
If a wedding or gathering following a wedding is held at a hospitality venue in an outdoor area and there is electronic entry recording, you may have up to 150 people and apply the one person per 2 square metre rule. You must complete and register a COVID-19 Safety Plan for your event.

Increase to the number of guests from 1 December 2020
The number of people who can attend a wedding will increase to 300 people from Tuesday 1 December 2020, subject to the 4 square metre rule indoors and 2 square metre rule for outdoors.

COVID-19 Guidelines for Weddings in NSW – Public Health Order (2) 2020

The NSW Government has now published Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order (No 2) 2020 providing detailed information on requirements for weddings taking place in NSW.
In addition to our communications last week, it has now been advised that:

In addition to the couple, the people conducting or assisting in the conduct of the wedding, a photographer, videographer, and up to 10 guests may attend a wedding

People attending will be required to provide their name and contact details, so that they can be used for contact tracing if needed

Part 2 Work and gatherings, Section 6 (4)(a) and (b) provides information on the requirement of contact details being provided and recorded for attendees at weddings in this state. This includes the recording of a contact telephone number for each attendee.
Part 6 Records and exchanges of information, Section (1)(a) and (b) advises that the record of contact details should be kept for a period of at least 4 weeks by the relevant person, and if needed provided on request to the Chief Health Officer.
