MetalCastle Promotions might be all but dead but Australian live music isn't!

Get your eyes around this plea for help!
The Tote is an Australian music icon and needs help to save it from developers... FOREVER!

Can you help? Even just a share may put it in front of the eyes of someone who can!

Well, yesterday was insane.
And if there’s one thing I’ve heard in my life more than anything else its “Don’t encourage him”
Well, people… you most certainly encouraged me.
Like a dog with a bone we’re going to do it all again.
If there’s one thing I learnt yesterday it’s that we can most certainly do this.
F**k it!
At first I thought to myself “Self! You’re going to need a bit of a miracle to pull this off!”
Now I know all we need is all of you and a lot of that never say die attitude we’ve heard so much about.
But this time we’re going to make this bigger.
Bigger, bigger bigger.
We’re going to ask the biggest bands in Australia to pitch in because if it wasn’t for places like the Tote (or the Last Chance) then they wouldn’t be where they are now.
If they can’t get themselves together to donate a few hours to play a few songs so we can save the Tote for the rest of time and all the bands coming after them then f**k’em!
We’ve got less than a week to pull this together (we need to make an offer on the Tote on April 6th) so it’s going to be a bit of a job!
But we’re happy to dedicate every minute we have to making this happen.
If you’ve got a band or an artist you think should chip in and play leave a comment and we will get a hold of them.
If you’ve got a bit of a media contact throw them a message.
But we’re doing it.
Get behind us people.
Chuck us a bit of hand and we can pull off the most amazing thing ever!
And (you know I’m always going to do it) head to http://www.pozible.com/project/the-last-chance-to-save-the-tote and check out what we’re up to!
Thank you all so much!
Let’s tear this fu**er up!

It's been sometime since I've posted on here, so here's hoping Facebook still lets someone see it.

Tonight is the very last installment of something I'm extremely proud to have been a part of.
Many years ago I took over booking for Club Led, and eventually with the help of Russel Murton and Greg turned it into something tailored to Newcastle and became known as The Vault Newcastle.
Eventually when the nature of life became too hectic for me I stepped away and Russel took over sole booking and promotion of the events.

Since then he has done an amazing job bringing some of the best bands in Australia and overseas to our little heavy community and tonight is the very last Vault ever.

It's a huge lineup to finish and proceeds from the night are going towards a charity very close to Russell's heart, so get on down to Newcastle Leagues Club tonight and lets send this old girl out with a HUGE bang!

***DRUMMER WANTED***

Osmium Grid are on the look out for a drummer with a passion for heavy music, headbanging, and having a good laugh at the world.

This doesn't have to be a full time, full commitment role, as we understand the pressures of day-to-day life all too well.
Ideally we're looking for someone to contribute to some recordings of new and old tracks, and one or two live opportunities throughout the year.

Our influences are in old school thrash, groove, and grind, with a deep love of bands like Hypocrisy, Kreator, Exodus, Cannibal Co**se, Psycroptic and many many more, but your influences do not have to define you as long as you have a love for heavy music.

As most of our back catalogue is made up of quirky timing and blast beats, the ability to play double kick and blast is a must.

If you think you might be interested in joining us for a jam, please get in touch with us through our page

Newcastle's very own PurEnvY have been accepted to compete for a spot at Legion Music Fest in 2017!

We couldn't think of a more worthy up and coming band from Newcastle to represent Newcastle!

Check out the link below and help these guys secure a spot!
And while you're at it, why not support the World's very first fully crowd funded music festival. For just a small price (peanuts compared to other "festivals"!), you get some awesome special inclusions and you'll be helping keep heavy music festivals alive and pumping in Australia!

I first met the Hazmat boys when they came to Newcastle to play one of my shows back in 2011.
I instantly loved these guys, not just as musicians, but as the genuine, down to earth, awesome guys they are. You won't find four better guys in a band these days who will just want to sit around just drink beers and talk all night! They're really serious about their music, but boy do they know how to party!

I've played on many many bills around the state with them since 2011, but below is just three of the old bills I've helped promote over the years.

Their music may have some very deep rooted Megadeth influences, but if you listen closely you can really pick the Australian thrash influence they've helped to pioneer in this country.
When I was planning the gig this Saturday night, they were one of the first bands I wanted on the bill, and I'm so glad they were able to lineup their schedules and come for the big send off!

Don't forget to check them out this Saturday night at The Vault. You won't be sorry!

Over the years one of the bands who have supported MetalCastle gigs the most has been Grim Demise.
These guys have been around longer than I have been doing gigs, and are one of the reasons I started doing this. So my friends bands had somewhere to be able to play to their friends and have fun doing it!
Here is a small collection of flyers from gigs the Grim Demise boys have played on over the years.

This weekend they headline my last show, and I couldn't ask for a better local band to be doing it. Thanks for all the years boys!

After much thought and contemplation, it's with a heavy heart that I have to announce that The Vault shows up until the end of the year will be my last.
Unfortunately life takes it's twists and turns on all of us at times, and whilst I've been trying to keep pushing through until things become good again, I find myself not being able to dedicate the time, or resources, to The Vault that I know these events truly deserve.
Make no mistake, I love booking shows. I've been doing it since 2006 and I'm proud to say that I've kept true to my ethos and morals the whole way through. Sure, there have been some hiccups along the way, as there always is in anything we do as humans, but I know in my heart that I can honestly say I've given it a red hot crack, and I've had an absolute ball doing it along the way.
I've met some amazing bands, both local and international, and worked with some great people at the venues I've booked.
But the biggest delight of all, was always seeing the enjoyment people got out of coming to the gigs I put on. That's why I started it in the beginning, to put on friends bands so their friends could come and enjoy themselves and the music they loved.
So to you guys, I say my biggest thank you.

Keep a look out on the page over the next few months, I'll be sharing some memories from the past 8 years on there, and don't forget to make it to one of the final shows at The Vault for this year.

Thanks and Rock on \m/
