I feel like my clothing style has changed a lot over the past eight years of being a celebrant 😅… but what hasn’t changed is the warmth and energy I bring to every ceremony.

Every ceremony is completely different because every couple is different. My job has never been about standing there reading words off a page - it’s about really getting to know my couples, understanding their relationship, how they want to be represented, and then telling their story in a way that genuinely connects with their guests.

I want guests to feel engaged and connected to what’s happening, not like they’re listening to a scripted presentation. That means eye contact, reading the room, connecting with people in the crowd, a little bit of banter when it feels right, and creating a ceremony that feels warm, natural and very human.

Of course, after eight years of ceremonies, my experience and confidence have absolutely levelled up. But from the very beginning, I’ve always felt that one of my biggest strengths as a celebrant has been being that calm, connected, warm human standing beside my couples on one of the biggest moments of their lives.

Your vows are your opportunity to say something special to each other at a significant point in your relationship journey - on the day you start life as a married couple. While they're not a performance for your guests, they are often a moment where guests are captivated and holding back tears.

They're an acknowledgement of where you've come from and your promise to each other for the person you will be for them in your journey going forward.

Most people struggle to start them... so here's some inspo!

In these cooler months, my schedule slows down a little and I find myself reflecting on the season that’s been.

This time of year usually means I’m receiving galleries back from so many of the weddings I’ve been part of, and I get to relive all those incredibly joyful moments again.

It also makes me think about the connections that are built along the way. One of the strangest parts of this job is that I can become such a meaningful part of someone’s life during such an important chapter… and then after the wedding day, it naturally comes to an end. It’s always a little bit sad saying goodbye to couples I’ve married.

But at the same time, this is also the season where I start meeting with all my end-of-year couples, and there’s something really exciting about that too. Sitting down with new people, hearing their stories, learning how they met, what they love about each other, what matters to them and what kind of celebration they want to create never gets old for me.

It’s not something I take lightly - being invited into people’s lives in such a personal way and trusted to tell their story and guide one of the biggest moments they’ll ever experience.

Best job ever.

J&J threw the wedding timeline rulebook out the window and chose a 10am ceremony.

It was PERFECT.

Croissants and delicious pastries from Icky Sticky, a coffee cart and relaxed arrival vibes for guests. Then a ceremony where we all melted in love over them both, followed by more relaxed hangs, then everyone to Farmers Wife Distillery to celebrate.

And did I mention it was in their glorious backyard?!

My favourite part is that it was totally THEM. And I'm now addicted to croissants.

I often get asked what it's like when a couple elopes with no guests...

Pretty much this.

Just two people, very in love and very relaxed... getting very married.

And in this case, in a very nice setting.
