For a limited time only… Derwent Valley Blackcurrant Jam made at Glen Derwent.

Made in small batches using locally grown blackcurrants, this rich, deeply flavoured jam captures the bold, tangy sweetness of the fruit at its peak. Cooked to preserve colour and intensity, it has a beautifully thick set and a vibrant, old-fashioned taste that’s perfect on toast, scones, crumpets or paired with cheese.

Presented in a classic #20 Fowlers jar and finished with a reusable decorative beeswax food wrap, each jar reflects a commitment to both tradition and sustainability. No shortcuts, no artificial flavours - just honest, home-made goodness.

In August 2024 when we were still operating at Glen Derwent, we booked in high tea for a large group of quilters from Australia and New Zealand for during their 2025 Retreat in Hobart.

One of their members had stayed at Glen Derwent in 2019 and had recommended us.

Having recommended other things to do in New Norfolk to make a day of it, we didn’t want to let them down after we closed the tea rooms. So a plan was made to hire the St Matthews Church Hall and take high tea to them there.

So tomorrow we will be serving 73 high teas, just as we always did, with two tiers of sweets and savouries, home made sparkling cordial, bottomless pots of real tea and plunger coffee, and all served with our signature willow crockery.

Are your scones dry or hard? Have you tried our recipe and failed? Would you like to learn to make them light and fluffy like we did in the tea rooms?

To support the Tasmanian Autumn Festival, we’re thinking of popping up in New Norfolk on Saturday afternoons and/or Sundays throughout April, for small group lessons where together we’ll make, bake and eat scones fresh from the oven.

We’d even bring the willow china and silver cutlery!
