Featuring national acts, stacks of local legends, party games and workshops galore; Red Deer is the non-commercial, BYO community alternative to every festival you've ever been to. And why am I only hearing about it now? Well...

Red Deer is basically a house party at your mate's place. Except your mate lives on 40 acres of pristine grazing land beneath the rolling hills of the D'aguilar Range, a

nd instead of listening to Nickleback's 'Best of' on your mates iPod, you'll boogie to an exciting and eclectic mix of up-and-coming acts from around the country, while you sip your BYO bevvie of choice on your BYO couch and wonder which food truck you'll try first. Oh and there's stacks of ways you can get involved; we're talking ping pong, frisby, belly-dancing, drum and hula hoop workshops to name just a few, there's even an annual themed fashion of the fields dance-off contest where you can strut your stuff in front of a thousand of your new best friends! Organised by two teachers and a nurse, Red Deer is all about mates and music. We're not trying to sell you a mobile phone contract or convince you that an energy drink will improve your social life. No, Red Deer is about real people, and real artists, making a real impact on the Brisbane music scene. Our punters come back every year because they believe in what we do, and know that Red Deer is just as much their festival as it is ours. Now in our seventh year, we love our little festie and argue it's probably the best in the world. If not the best, at least the most relaxed. But that's just what we think! There's really only one way to find out. And to answer your second question, about why you've not heard of Red Deer until now, well that's easy, you spend too much time face swapping on Snap Chat, Pokemon Go-ing your local neighbourhood and watching cat videos on Tumblr, and for that my friend, we have no answers. BUS TIMES:

(AM):

Depart West End (Vulture St at West End School, stop 9) 11:45am
Depart Ferny Grove Train Station 11:30am
Depart Ferny Grove Train Station 12:30pm
Depart Roma Street Station (Stop 125 at Transit Centre) 12 noon
Depart Samford Village 11:45am

(PM):

If you've booked a BUS PASS, simply jump on one of the two departing busses this evening from the front gate. Times below:

Bus 1 to Samford Village and Ferny Grove departs 11:30pm
Bus 2 to Samford Village, Ferny Grove and Roma Street departs immediately after The Preachers set finishes (12 midnight)

TRAVELLING BY CAR:

We haven't had any rain yet, however some is forecast for today. Please ensure you drive safely to and from Red Deer, and be especially careful if the grass is wet on the festival site.

All vehicles arriving at Red Deer (incl. taxi's and 'drop-offs') need to follow the main driveway up to our Ticket Booth to have their tickets checked. No exceptions.

PARKING:

All vehicles parking on site (excluding artists/employees/volunteers) need a CAR PASS. This is still purchasable online http://bit.ly/2tlBUne, and at the gate for a higher price.

DRIVE SAFELY:

Every year the Police set up an RBT the morning after Red Deer to test drugs and alcohol and every year people get caught out. Please have a plan in place if you are driving home today or tomorrow. Don't be in a rush to leave on Sunday if you've had a few drinks the night before. We'll be serving food and coffee from 6am.

Dear Deers,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that this year’s Red Deer Music and Arts Festival, on October 14, will be our last. For almost a decade now, the three of us have put absolutely everything into this event and feel now is the right time to hang up our hooves. We have loved growing our little festival over the years but now we are looking forward to spending more time with our families.

From shovelling cow dung to partying with some of the best bands that Australia has ever produced, Red Deer has been an amazing rollercoaster ride that we’ll never forget. We will miss the feeling we get watching the whole festival come together just in time for the yearly migration and the buzz of every small victory amongst a million tiny challenges, but mostly we’ll miss our amazing fans, to whom we owe our every success.

This Saturday is now our swansong. It is the one chance we have left to send Red Deer off in style. We would love to party with you all one last time and there are still a handful of camping, day and VIP tickets available to Red Deer Space Oddity 🎟️ http://bit.ly/2tlBUne. So come join the herd for one last hurrah and let’s give the Deer the send-off it deserves!
