Literally just saw a fb post demonising AI use for D&D. The post listed alternative strategies, such as watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and stealing ideas from that.
To avoid "stealing ideas" with AI, people recommend just stealing ideas without AI instead...
The AI in D&D debate is so dumb. If you enjoy the writing process more with utilising AI and your table doesn't care, then who gives a rat's ass. Everything D&D related is generally pretty open source anyway, and the creative process is mostly adapting ideas.
My main words of warning when it comes to using AI for D&D is that it may potentially stunt your creativity if you rely heavily or solely on AI. You will also find yourself having to adapt a lot of the output of the AI which can sometimes be just as much a hassle as just writing the thing yourself, and if not done could potentially see you infringing copyright.
AI is a fantastic tool for DMs, but it is by no means the only, or even best, way to write a story. It is often a good companion for creating NPCs, producing scene narration, fine tuning plot hooks or even figuring out which skill checks to call for in certain situations.
At the end of the day, it is always up to you, as DM, to decide how much of your story you want to be your own.
