Australian punk stalwarts The Smith Street Band today share new single ā€˜Star Childā€™. Out on Pool House Records this is the second single from the Naarm/Melbourne bandā€™s forthcoming seventh album.

Of the latest release the bandā€™s lead singer Wil Wagner says, Star Child is a song about how all lifeā€™s twists and turns have led me to a really happy place with a daughter who I love more than anything! Itā€™s about how important things used to feel and how lost I used to be and the perspective gained with age and experiences. The song took on a lot of different directions and formations but I kept coming back to the opening line which is ā€œIā€™ve seen so many highwaysā€ and thinking about how after all of lifeā€™s journeys Iā€™ve found myself exactly where I need to be!

The upcoming new album is the third to be recorded at the bandā€™s off grid studio in regional Victoria and follows critically acclaimed albums Life After Football (triple j Feature Album, 2022) and Donā€™t Waste Your Anger (ARIA #1, 2020).
