Tomorrow we see the return of one of Melbourne most prolific and talented selectors to a Love Above Records line up.

A true lover of both music AND the craft of DJing, Agent 86 has been spinning good tunes since 1989. Starting out with a Tuesday-night residency at The Grenfell Tavern (Adelaide) along with 2 belt-drive turntables and a primitive mixer, he set about learning the craft of DJing. Before long came Technics SL1200s and a crossfader - and with them, hours of scratch & beat-juggling practice culminating in DMC & ITF DJ battles. At the same time, he held down a position at Central Station Records (Adelaide), greatly expanding his musical tastes, his knowledge of classic, contemporary & emerging dance-music styles and, of course, his record collection.

Since then, he has headlined countless parties, played at countless festivals, ran a record label, worked in music distribution, produced a slew of underground hits and supported some of the biggest names in music history (see list below). Fast forward to 2017 and that same passion remains. Always looking for the perfect beat, always looking for the perfect scratch, always looking for the perfect mix. And when he’s exhausted from that, he steps into the studio to bang out fat tracks & edits for other DJs.

Unfortunately DJ Jnett is unable to join us for the B2B but Nigel will be flying the flag and turning day into night.

One of our nearest and dearest joining us this weekend from Sydney. Always a great time when Mike is in town. 2 sleeps till the dance.

Mike was influenced early in his career by the underground music coming out of New York, Chicago and Detroit.
He crafted his skills in Sydney/Eora’s local Club Scenes well as travelling interstate and overseas gigging.

His skillset has also led to curating runway shows and events for fashion houses Aje, Comme Moi, Christopher Esber and Shona Joy, as well as original production for leading Australian fashion and lifestyle brands marketing campaigns.

A desire to create his own music label led to the formation of WIP Music. The intention was to provide a platform for local artists as well as International guests to create original music and remixes, encourage like minded people to come together in safe spaces and express themselves through dance and help sustain the community who support underground dance music.

Opening up proceedings on Saturday with have our dear friend . First appearing on a Love Above line up in 2019, Aucun Alias opened up our party for Carista and blew it out of the water, she has since contributed to our mix series as well as played frequently across some of Melbournes greatest nightlife, we are stoked to invite her back. A defined and elegant taste in house music, jazz, RnB, Afro and more, AA is the perfect soundtrack to inspire some digging at our record fair

Kick off upstairs from 2pm. Entry is free all day.

Taking you deep into LIVE territory next Saturday with have Aka Zeb. Zeb is a Naarm based Dj and musician with a deep love for Underground music. Whether he’s on the decks or performing live, his sets blend the rawness of club music with heavy influences of jazz, funk and soul.

We had the pleasure of releasing his production Deep Discovery on our 2021 compilation Home by 909. He’ll be taking you into the night and giving the Funktion One sound system a proper work out 🔈

Soundtracking our record fair upstairs on the mezzanine we are lucky to have bring down a bag of her finest records.

Nonoka, also known as n2k, originates from Sendai, Japan. She discovered the thrill of digging for records in Tokyo’s diverse and vibrant music scene and started her record collection in 2019. Nonoka continues to be inspired by numerous unique DJ’s both in her home country and around the world. Now residing in Australia, she immerses herself in the diverse array of musical influences we are lucky to offer here in, inspiring her already diverse palette.

We are thrilled to have Melbournes dearest join us in 2 week at Whitehart. The man needs little introduction and someone who resonates with everything we’re about here at Love Above.

Prequel’s love for sharing music that moves him is ever present in his seemingly boundless enthusiasm when performing.

Records on Rhythm Section, Local Talk, Distant Hawaii and Lumberjacks In Hell, have demonstrated his reverence for Jazz influenced House music, whilst showing a continual evolution with each release.

He can be heard as a guest host and featured artist with appearances on several highly respected local and international radio stations such as BBC1, BBC6, NTS, Teder.FM, East Side Radio, LeMellotron, PBS, Double J and RRR.

Always producing and presenting music with true substance, Prequel wears his musical heart on his sleeve on every occasion.

This event is free of charge with no need to RSVP. Kick off @ 2pm

This party will take place on stolen land. We pay our respects to the Wurundjeri & Boon Wurrung clans and all people of the Kulin Nation, their elders part, present & future, and their ongoing resistance.
