Unlike taxis, Eltham Rides has never charged a credit card surcharge, even after the surcharge ban came into effect Taxis are still charging 4% for Credit cards because unlike all other companies they have an exemption.

Now I didn’t know this it has been just recently brought to my attention.

While most Australian businesses can no longer add a surcharge when you pay by card, taxis have been given an exemption.

That means they can still charge you up to 4% in Victoria for paying with a normal credit or debit card.

So if your taxi fare is $50, they can add another $2 just because you tapped your card.

Apparently taxis are treated differently because their fares and payment fees are regulated by each state rather than under the same national rules as everyone else.

I only just learnt this one. Did you know taxis were exempt, and do you think they should be?

📢 Airport Drop-Off & Pick-Up Update! ✈️

It’s been 4 days since the new drop-off and pick-up areas opened, and so far, everything has been running successfully! 🙌

Here’s a quick update on how our drop-offs and pick-ups will work moving forward.

🚗 DROP-OFFS
From the new drop-off area, it’s approximately a 4–5 minute walk to Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

🧳 PICK-UPS

📍 Virgin Australia & Jetstar
We will continue to do pick-ups from Terminal 4 (T4), which is approximately a 4–5 minute walk.

📍 Qantas & International Arrivals
For pick-ups T1 and T2, we will be using the new designated pick-up area. It's approximately 4-5 minute walk.

How does the new pick-up process work? 👇

1️⃣ Once you have collected your bags and cleared Customs (for international arrivals), give your driver a call.

2️⃣ Your driver will then make their way to the new pick-up area.

3️⃣ Your driver will message you with the zone number they are waiting at so you know exactly where to meet them.

📲 Please make sure you call your driver once you're ready for collection, rather than while you're still waiting for your bags.

This is an all-too-common problem at Melbourne Airport. I’ve heard so many stories about unscrupulous drivers taking advantage of people.

It’s really disappointing that this keeps happening. People should be able to arrive at Melbourne Airport and get to their destination without worrying about being ripped off.

Hi Eltham Riders, 👋

A quick update from Peter and the team!

Peter will be away on a family holiday from September 17th to 29th. During this time, we will have limited availability, so if you need our services during these dates, we kindly ask that you book as soon as possible.

This is especially important if you require an SUV or van, as we want to make sure we can accommodate your preferred travel times wherever possible. 🚐

While Peter is away, he will have limited access to the internet and phone at times, so replies to future bookings and enquiries may take a little longer than usual.

For those who have bookings during this period, you will be allocated a driver and provided with their contact details. If you experience any delays or need to make changes to your booking, please message your allocated driver directly, as Peter may not see messages straight away.

Please Check Your Confirmation! ✈️

A quick reminder to all our passengers — please take a moment to carefully check your booking confirmation and attachment when you receive it(everyone gets a booking confirmation).

We’ve recently had a number of passengers provide the wrong travel dates. These mistakes are easily picked up and corrected at the time of booking, but unfortunately can cause major problems if they’re only noticed on the day of travel.

Also, when booking airport transfers, please remember:

✈️ Airport pickup: We need the time you need to be picked up, NOT the time your flight departs, if unsure on pick up time no problem to ask.

🛬 Airport return: We need your flight landing time, NOT the time you expect to be out of the airport. We allow for the usual time needed to collect luggage and make your way out.

Please double-check your dates, times, flight details and pickup information as soon as you receive your confirmation. If anything is incorrect, let us know straight away so we can fix it.

A quick check at the time of booking can save a lot of stress on the day! 😊
