Quick run to the fulfilment centre on the way home from the studios this afternoon to pack an order. Off to Ireland tomorrow…
I really need to get in here after this current gig is over to tidy, pack and rearrange some things!

I am by no means an expert with my little desktop ELEGOO Phedca laser but spent the last two weeks experimenting with a few bits and pieces. Running through some different materials testing as well as closing shapes to ensure clean fill passes and was able to get some very clean scrollwork text going is some hardwood.

I’m teaching myself a lot of this as I go so I can better implement it into some more of my scratch built prop work and I’ve been super impressed so far.

Not sponsored or anything, I bought mine but it’s a great little machine!

9 hours
7 sheets of MDF
5 rolls of double sided tape
3 blades snapped and counting…

Is scratch building props the method for everyone? No! But it’s what makes me happy.
Getting 4.5 hours of work in today has been the most solid chunk of time I’ve gotten in on projects lately. I really do love what I do and, while I don’t do anywhere near as much as I’d like at the moment… I’m always going to do what I can.

This is the Fortnite Surgical Burst Rifle. Slowly coming together.

Almost 2 months since taking this photo and I’ve really not been able to make much progress with the film hours I’m doing.
I promise I’m still at it but it’s just going to take some more time.

So. Very. Tired.
No secret I’ve been on an incredible Prop team on a film since April so time has been limited but looks like there may not be a reprieve yet… seems like we may be rolling straight from one film into the next, albeit with a department switch for me. More info on that later…
For now, yes, I’m still getting prop work done… just in 15 minute increments before I pass out lately.
Speaking of which… 😴

Can’t remember the last time I made one of these but there are two ready for clean up and paint now…Shiny!

Some Updates:

• the July restock? Non-existent… because
• the film job I’m on has been extended. Multiple sets and builds have been added so, at this stage we’re supposed to be about 3 weeks from completion… that may extend further. But this extension and currently having added Saturdays too means I’m home far less and tired when I am home so the work has been quieter. We’re currently doing 58 hour weeks which, on top of travel for me is not much shy of 80 hours a week away from my home/workshop/prop builds.
• So far this has been from April to now. We were supposed to finish up this Friday originally.
• the US/Global tariff situation have just changed for us AGAIN! 🤦🏼‍♂️ new customs forms have been issued but were limited to one per customer the day they were released and we no longer able to accept the older form (even though the only real difference is one check box has been replaced by two others now stating whether the item is B2B or B2C) …it’s endlessly frustrating but 2/3 current prop parcels have left the building and the 3rd will go tomorrow… but they did hand off my family member who had to post them for me the old form again today anyway 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ hopefully they just accept it (with the B2C notation I had to add myself) or it’ll be another day delay.
• I’m tired. More than anything it’s the travel each day that’s slowing me down. I have 4 new moulds to make and counting (Fallout Combat Shotgun, Fortnite Warforged AR new moulds and Assassin’s Creed Altair’s Throwing Knife and Folding ‘66 Batarang remoulds. There’s also a lot more projects still crawling along whenever I can get to them.

This film has been amazing, reminding me what’s possible and with a ridiculous talented props manufacturing team and we all work great together… but I’m keen for some good old fashioned scratch build fun in my garage again… soon.

For now… time to pass out.
