1870 — Building established on Nicholson Street, Carlton North
Early 1900s — A cycling school
Later — A roller-skating rink
1922 — Reborn as the Adelphi Theatre, screening films for two decades
1963 — Opens as San Remo Ballroom, with its famous circular dance floor
1969 — Future PM Gough Whitlam dances the night away at a Labour ball, right here on our floor
