Successful event design is grounded in sound business practice.

Without clearly defined goals and alignment among key stakeholders, even the most popular event ideas may fail to deliver meaningful outcomes.

To create an effective event design, it is important to consider the following six elements:

โœ… The business case of event design
โœ… Event design and the adoption of technology
โœ… Finding the right partner
โœ… Engaging the community
โœ… Checking back to your ROI
โœ… Event design and risk management

Over the past decade, subvention has had a significant impact on Australia's national business events sector.

As funding has shifted from incentive to expectation, the nature of how destinations compete for events has transformed.

This has resulted in multiple negative impacts on the industry, including:

โ˜‘๏ธ The culture of expectation
โ˜‘๏ธ The dependency dilemma
โ˜‘๏ธ Inflated expectations and over-quoting

Did you know there are two ICMSes?

Lin Knight came to Melbourne to find a location to set up a second office for his Sydney-based company, called International Convention Management Services (ICMS).

Six months after opening up in Melbourne, the Sydney office hired a new manager named Ken Scheller.

When Knight decided to leave the business, he offered ICMS to both Ken Scheller and his business partner, Barrie Markey.

They decided to set up a partnership agreement, sharing information and working together, but not sharing a financial risk.

Both the Melbourne and Sydney businesses flourished under their new owners and still exist today.
