Thought this snippet of Danny Grant’ interview with MaRLo was really interesting to me, because it got me self reflecting and thinking a lot about how we define our own self worth.
I’ve been in the music scene for over half my life now, and I have to admit it’s not always easy to disconnect the mental connection that attaches self-worth to gigs/support on tracks.
More importantly, being a DJ/producer isn’t the only thing I am. I’m a father & husband, and an awesome software engineer too!
But being a DJ/Producer has been part of my identity a very long time, so hearing something like this really helps fight the voice in your head that says “no gigs? you must suck”.
At the end of the day it’s just about what energy you put in and whether you can be proud of yourself and your actions.
The real reward on the journey is the friends you make along the way, and the skills you pick up and things you learn.
Highly recommend checking out the full interview on Spotify or YouTube.
