It’s not the worst problem to have!

I was in the process of giving my kit a deep clean and declutter when both my boys came in asking for a face painting.

I said, “yes, as long as you choose something that I need to practice!”

My youngest chose a green tree snake with creepy yellow eye. Perfect. I’m still wobbly painting snakes.

This one is inspired by an incredible artist Janice Haney. It’s a goal of mine to be more free with my Linework and worry less about the perfect stroke. Janice makes it look effortless, but I’m pretty happy with my snake today!

Grownups deserve face painting too!

This lovely lady sat in my seat and asked for a butterfly. Having presented the options, we agreed some gorgeous little purple and gold fancy eyes were the way to go.

You can’t quite see it in the picture but it matched her cute gold and purple earrings.

This design s heavily inspired by the beautiful work of Face Painting Mandurah | Kiverse

I’ve used the purple Onestroke “Aster” by Facepainting Hub and edged it in black for a little extra pop.

I wish you could see the full photo because this young lady was such a delight and her smile says it all.

I’ve made the decision to obscure the identity of any children I paint to protect their privacy. It’s been a really uncomfortable and challenging shift because the joy on the faces of children we encounter as face painters is truly the magical part of what we do.

Cropping the images so close like this does lose a lot of that magic but what these children lose having their images splashed all over the internet is far greater.

I absolutely love what I do. Bringing colour and joy to people through face painting is such a privilege, and I often catch myself thinking how lucky I am to have a job that’s this joyful.
