Introducing a final workshop running during the “Am I Dreaming?” exhibition with the wonderful !

In this workshop, Madi will be teaching participants how to create their own unique wall hanging/mobile from natural flora, woven sculpture, found or personal objects, beaded works, fabric and embroidery! The class will open with a guided intuitive artmaking session, allowing attendees to connect with themselves, their unique artistic expression and associate personal meaning to the visual elements hung in their mobile. Madi will be teaching Wadawurrung weaving techniques with Raffia grass to those who choose to add woven pieces to their wall hanging, as well as traditional knotting techniques to connect all hung items! This workshop has no set end goal and is open to personal artistic expression, meaning your work will be as unique as you are!
Participants in this class will be asked to bring in at least three natural found items, and/or small personal items they would like to add to their wall hanging. All other materials will be supplied 😊

Still some ticcies left for ‘s crochet workshop w/ some hot new posters to boot.

Looking for something to keep you occupied during those long cold winter nights while you resist putting the heater on because you know you can’t afford the crazy amount of money the price gouging gas companies are charging you?
Love the crochet look but hate that it’s either made by exploited workers i or costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars?
Have ADHD and looking for another hobby?
Come try to learn crochet with someone a little less annoying then those crochet youtube tutorials.
We'll start by learning how to make a granny square and then we'll figure out how to join them and weave in ends. Once you learn these basics you'll be able to make tops, pillows, bags, hats, balaclavas, or anything you want as long as you don’t need a curved edge.
You’ll also get a starter kit including all the materials you'll need to continue crocheting at home, enough yarn so you can finish your project and maybe some new crafting buddies.

Introducing yet another KILLER workshop, taking place at during the “Am I Dreaming?” Exhibition 🔥

This embroidery workshop will be facilitated by the wonderful

“This relaxed five-hour workshop will teach you how to depict bodies with embroidery thread using a backstitch as well as short and long stitches. You will choose from various n**e reference images to explore depicting bodies. You are also welcome to change aspects of these reference images or combine reference images in the drawing process. By the end of the workshop, you will have started your own n**e embroidery artwork! You will leave with an embroidery kit (needle, fabric, hoop, embroidery thread) and a booklet to continue developing your skills!

In 5 hours you will learn the following:
- Introduction to your materials:
In this part, you will learn about what you will be working with, and how to use it!
- Learn some stitches:
You will learn backstitch as well as short and long stitches. These will provide the base for you to draw with thread in the final part!
- Drawing bodies:
In this part, you will search through reference images and use them to do a quick sketch of a body. You can combine images, or just use one. How you draw the body is up to you! Be imaginative too! Wanna add in some top surgery scars? Go ahead! This drawing does not need to be perfect - It's meant to be a rough sketch!
- Combining the first 3 parts and drawing with thread:
In this final part, we will be moving to the hoop and fabric! You will pick your fabric and a thread (or threads). Then, using the sketchy drawing, you will start drawing with a pen on your fabric. When you have done your drawing, we will start using stitching techniques to cover the pen marks to start creating your very own artwork.”

Introducing our headline act for “Am I Dreaming?”

The legends 🔥

“From the heart of Melbourne, Olympic White are a unique blend of proud, unapologetic Australian indie rock roots coupled with listener-friendly pop sensibilities. They blur the lines of genres, and their music - full of reflective lyrics and groovy rhythms - is here to stay.

Since the quartet formed, they've played the circuit of local venues including The Workers Club, The Evelyn and The Bendigo Hotel. The band recently released their fourth single 'Going Rogue' on July 2021, supported by a single launch at The Worker's Club in Fitzroy.

Nurturing ambitions that span beyond the local Melbourne scene, they're scheduled to release more singles and headline shows throughout 2022.”

From Gabi:
“People are eternally interested in representing other people. However, we are traditionally taught to glorify and strive for realism.

It’s ok, you can exhale~ not in this course.

Through using non-traditional references (AKA not a life model), we will explore the human form as matter, symbol, and vessel for expression.

By engaging with life drawing exercises found in the original classroom, and then merging this with expressionist, abstract, and surrealist techniques, this workshop will encourage personal and creative flair within this genre.”
