Amer Ali | Melbourne Photographer ARTIST BIO & WORK OUTLINE:
A Filipino born photographer who utilises film photography as a medium to document and represent my subjects’ stories and other personal concepts.

Evidence of life: The theme (de)Generate reminds me of the concept of going against AI. By photographing and mixing it in with the real flower as it degrades in a glass frame, to me this is my way of showing the rawness and beauty it once had that an AI can never generate.

mag ♡( ◡‿◡ ) 郭昳昕 ARTIST BIO & WORK OUTLINE:
Wacky Mag (Maggie Guo) is a Chinese-Australian artist based in Naarm, working across illustrations, painting and hand-poke tattooing. Her practice is intuitive, whimsical and a surreal expression of her inner life. Maggie creates worlds of movement, illusions and inter-connected narratives in her artworks as a way of processing lived experiences, emotions, memories and dreams. Her practice is very influenced by interests in psychology, philosophy and the nature of reality.

Aster and Goldenrod: Wildflowers Asters and Goldenrod have evolved to grow alongside each other because their vibrant colours of purple and yellow vibrate stronger together and increase their chances of being pollinated. When choosing the colours for my painting I thought about this symbiotic relationship, generated by the living world.

Daniel Caridi ARTIST BIO & WORK OUTLINE:
I’m Daniel, a Melbourne based photographer mainly specialising in film photography. I’m obsessed with the suburbs and cars, those two being the main subjects of my work. I try to capture the feeling of home despite not know the suburbs I’m in, the feeling of safety, the feeling of stability and the nostalgia for the things we don’t even know we notice. I just find the mundane is so interesting for some stupid reason.

Special for (de)Generate: I believe the medium of film photography is the antithesis to AI generation. It’s slow and it’s tangible. It’s a step-by-step process that is almost a gamble because you can’t even be fully sure if it has worked until the final steps; and that’s exactly what has happened in this frame.
