Celebrating Neale’s 50 years of butchering!!! Wow 🎉🥩 In 1974 when Neale was 14 and 9 months he left school and went to work at his parents butcher shop in Melton, which they built in 1972. Neale’s father was slaughter man at an abattoir and helped influence his interest in working with meat. Plus he hated school and left as soon as he could work! He finished his apprenticeship at William Angliss when he was 19, and over the years worked in various butcher shops. From having his own shop at Highpoint, to working at Footscray Market. 1988 Neale purchased a butcher shop in Woodville, Hoppers Crossing-and this would be where people in the community began to know and trust in Neale’s skills and produce! 3 years of running his own successful shop he decided to incorporate Spit Roast Catering event, and was running both businesses together. As the catering business grew, he decided to sell the shop and focus on Neale’s Spit Roast Catering! Neale is still to this day- hard working, generous, and dedicated to his family business he built. Neale is still always gob smacked at the prices of meat today, recalling whole lambs costing $3 each- costing $250 today! I asked Neale how he has evolved over the 50 years as a butcher- he said he has become much slower! 😂 Congrats Butch 💕 Forever proud of what you have achieved, and grateful to be a part of it
