Giddy up for some great news for our equestrian community!
MSEP Cross-Country Course has reopened after significant improvements with grounds maintenance and repairs over the past few months!
The course was designed by Mick Pineo and is set amongst natural bushland featuring water jumps, splashes and combinations of brush fences, rolltops and oxers.

When using the Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park Cross Country Course, please observe the following guidelines in conjunction with the Venue Terms and Conditions of Hire:
1. Please submit an online booking form with requested information and booking will be confirmed with Venue Hire Agreement that must be signed by all parties.
2. The safety and welfare of riders, horses and other attendees is always paramount: -
• A minimum of three (3) people must be in attendance when obstacles are being used, and they must have a mobile phone and know how to give directions if Emergency Services are required.
• Only instructors qualified with either Equestrian Australia (EA) or Pony Club Australia (PCA), may seek permission to hire the Cross-Country Course and they must provide a copy of current qualifications and insurance. Furthermore, they must agree to adhere to all MSEP guidelines for use of Cross-Country area prior to use.
• If the rider is riding under a PCA coach, then for insurance purposes the rider would need to be a PCA member. If the rider is riding under an EA level coach, then that coach should have individual insurance, and the rider would be covered under their policy.
• The safety, competence and capability of each horse and rider combination must be assessed by their instructor before attempting any obstacle.
• Appropriate equipment and attire (including safety vests and helmets) must be used.
3. Parking and Entry to Cross-Country Course: -
• Clinics and Training days – Users must park vehicles and floats inside the Cross-Country course as directed by MSEP venue staff and unload/load and saddle horses in this area.
• Competitions and Events – Users must park vehicles and floats within the MSEP venue stable areas and unload/ load and saddle horses in this area then ride or walk horses to the course.
4. Users must check the safety and suitability of the obstacle, approach, take-off, landing and departure areas before jumping any obstacle.
5. Do not use any obstacles that you feel are not safe and report any incidents, damages, or safety issues to MSEP venue staff as soon as possible.
6. Do not modify any obstacle without permission from MSEP management.
7. Entry gate must always remain closed while the course is in use.
8. For the safety of all users, riders and horses, dogs are not permitted in the cross-country course during any competitions or events.
9. Users who do not comply with these guidelines may be refused future access to the course.
