You're invited to hit the water for a paddle up the Margaret River to learn more about this unique waterway and the animals and plants it supports!

The excursion on Thursday, March 6 from 9.30am-12.30pm will be guided by Wadandi custodian Zac Webb, who has a deep understanding of the long story of Country and has devoted much of his life to protecting and sharing it.

Alongside him will be Josh Palmateer, a former professional surfer and surf coach who now runs Margaret River Kayaks and Canoes with his wife Sarah and who knows the river intimately.

It is the latest event in Nature Conservation’s Friends of Wooditjup Bilya (Margaret River) program, with monthly events featuring a guided excursion with a local expert followed by hands-on conservation work to care for the watering and its surrounding ecosystem.

“Hear their stories of this sacred songline, their passion for the river and their vision towards celebrating and protecting this special place," says program coordinator Lauren.

“Starting at the river mouth, we'll paddle up the Margaret River, taking in the breathtaking scenery and hearing the inspiring conservation stories of this special place. After the paddle, join us for the work when Friends of Wooditjup Bilya volunteers will get their hands dirty and be part of the restoration along the St. Alouarn foreshore.”
