Anyone want to guess what this weird looking flower is? 🧐🌺
My first year growing these blooms and they have been in since February 2026🌱 Almost 7 months and this is the first flower spike🌺
They have survived the summer heat as seedlings, have grown through winter and the frosts❄️🥶

This year in the patch we have lots of flowers and bulbs we are trialling. It’s so exciting to see the long months of waiting- not so patiently- and all the hard work paying off.
I try and suss what works, what doesn’t, I am forever learning with this flower gig💐🌷🌱🌺

There is always something going on in our patch as we make way for an exciting new project 🌱🌺.
I had no idea that when pine trees are flowering they have so much green pollen🤧

🌺Patch tips of the week🌺

Growing Lilliums is incredibly easy. Last year we had our first trial with these stunning flowers and it wasn’t long before I was obsessed😍
I grew them everywhere, in pots, raised planters and straight into the earth. This year I have many varieties and methods I am trialling.

Seed snails🌱🐌

I’m not afraid to admit I have no idea what I am doing with this whole flower/ farming gig.
I fail as much as I succeed.
There are so many times I feel like a fraud and lose confidence. There are so many variables.
But I am also not afraid of having a crack, learning through trial and error and working hard. Because flowers give me the capacity to connect to community to collaborate with other folks that love flowers and gardening. To learn from each other🫶💐🌱

Out the Patch we trial different ways of raising seeds and growing flowers and foliage. We saw the seed snail 🐌 method and thought it would be fun to try with the girls🫶
A great way to recycle rubbish that we would have thrown out too♻️ 🌱🌼

The Matriarch of Our Patch is Old Girl - Blaze.
Old girl got herself a party trick years ago and sussed if she was cold, chattered her teeth and started shaking she would get lots more pats and even get to sneak inside….
And now, even though she sleeps next to the wood fire, she lets me know if it’s not cranking enough 🥶🤦🏻‍♀️🔥🪵

Our Patch has always been about our Grandies and watching it grow with them🌱🌺🐝
The natives we planted out front with Marls when she was so little and more when her sister Tess was born would not only reduce the gravel dust and give privacy from the road, but help feature in my arrangements💐🌼
The girls are always planting, picking and learning with me as we navigate this flower journey.
And it’s only because of the girls that it grew ( literally) into what it has. To teach them about flowers, veggies and all things bugs and bees is where it started and watching both them want to be in the garden growing seeds and plants is pretty cool🪏🌱💐🌺🫶

Our Patch Pooches 🐕🐾 are never far from us out the farm and both Charlie and Old girl ( Blaze) have their own amusing party tricks.
Charlie likes to smile when she does stupid stuff or is busted.
Her smile of shame…
Yesterday Charlie thought it would be fun to roll in crap. Because who wouldn’t want to be covered in sh*te 💩🤦🏻‍♀️
I was not smiling and unsure if Old girl was sympathy smiling or grimacing with her no teeth smile she is currently rocking.
Lucky she likes a dam swim even in winter❄️🥶
