There’s something magical about the streets of Manila at night. The warm glow of streetlights, the buzz of people, and that unmistakable aroma of beef pares simmering in a humble karinderya pot. 🍲🇵🇭

We remember those late night cravings after work or school, pulling up a plastic chair, and waiting for that hot, flavourful bowl of beef pares tender beef, rich sauce, garlic rice, and clear soup on the side. That first spoonful always hit different. 😋

It wasn’t just food. It was comfort. It was barkada kwentos, tambay moments, jeepney rides, and laughter echoing in the air.

Here at Carlo’s Kitchen, we carry those memories with every bowl we serve. Authentic flavours, cooked with love, and served with the same soul that made the streets of Manila feel like home. 🧡

Lomi con lechon

A heartfelt tribute to Tabo Panciteria and Mang Juan, our beloved old-school bus driver. One of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. He used to pick me up promptly at 5:30 am. Nowadays, my kids complain about waking up at 7am, and I remind them how easy they’ve got it.

Every year on his birthday, Mang Juan would treat us to lomi with crispy lechon at his panciteria in Marikina. Over time, it became my go-to spot after basketball games or late-night food trips. Our usual order? Lomi con lechon, Shanghai rolls, torta con carne, sweet and sour pork, and fried rice. We’d always greet the cook and chat about how Ginebra almost won, only to lose again. Of course, it was always the referee’s fault.

This isn’t your typical Lomi Batangas. This is my go-to lomi. Lomi con Lechon.
