We’re excited to be working alongside the Council management team to continue building even better events and a vibrant community destination hub for the Maitland LGA and the wider Hunter Valley.

Together, we’re focused on creating welcoming spaces, stronger community connections, and memorable experiences for everyone who visits and takes part in our local events.

🌿 Job Opportunity – Maitland Showground 🌿

An exciting opportunity is now open for a Groundsperson at the Maitland Showground, South Maitland.

📍 Immediate start
🕒 5 hours per day | Monday–Friday
📅 Applications close 23 June

This hands-on role involves maintaining grounds and facilities, and preparing the showground for monthly markets, the annual Maitland Show, and community events throughout the year.

Must have:
✔ Current driver’s licence
✔ Physical fitness for outdoor work
✔ Experience with (or willingness to learn) machinery such as ride-on mowers, tractors, slasher & mulcher
✔ Strong focus on safety and reliability

If you’re practical, community-minded, and enjoy outdoor work, this could be a great opportunity.

☕💛 What an incredible result! 💛☕

We are delighted to announce that the Maitland Showground Biggest Morning Tea 2026 held Sat 6 June 2026 raised an amazing $3,509.93 for the Cancer Council NSW.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at the Teapot Café and supported this wonderful event. With around 80 guests in attendance, the morning was filled with delicious treats and catering by Slow Food Hunter Valley, great company, and a shared commitment to making a difference Jenny Aitchison MP as our guest speaker.

Special thanks to Dr Heather Murray for sharing insights into her exciting work in cancer research, Sarah Lukeman Director from Cancer Council NSW for arranging Heather's attendance.

This event would not be possible without the generosity of our volunteers, supporters, raffle donations, and community members who continue to show up year after year from Slow Food Hunter Valley . Every dollar raised helps support vital cancer research, prevention programs, and services for those affected by cancer.

Together, we have made a meaningful contribution and honoured the spirit of community that makes Maitland Showground so special.

This event is about so much more than sweet treats, sandwiches and a cuppa. It's about connecting with our local community, sharing stories, supporting one another, and standing beside families whose lives have been touched by cancer. This year we pay special tribute to Tracy Press who we recently lost on our team to cancer.
