FOUR TRUTHS & A LIE

Looking quite demure here (at the gorgeous Rachael & Amy’s wedding last weekend) so it seems like a good time to share some highlights from my varied employment history back in the day!

At some point, I have:

🇯🇵 Worked as a Japanese interpreter
🐎 Worked as a security guard at the races
🎨 Been a face painter at a school fete
👓 Worked as a receptionist at an optometrist
🌴 Sold timeshares on the Gold Coast

Which one is the lie??? 🤭

This is the end product of months of planning… the elegant, beautiful bit.

I always say the wedding day is the easy part for me. By then, I have a ceremony that’s been carefully created with my couple, given the green light, and is ready to go!

But there’s still plenty happening before we begin…

What you don’t see is me:

Checking microphones.
Chatting with musicians.
Running through the ceremony details with the photographer and videographer.
Checking in with the venue team.
Straightening chairs.
Reading through the ceremony one last time.
Swapping my flats for heels.
Making sure water and tissues are within reach, and the vow cards are positioned for easy access.

The calmer and more organised your celebrant is, the calmer your ceremony feels.

When it looks effortless, that usually means a lot of work has happened behind the scenes. 👌

The walk into your ceremony looks different for every couple. Sometimes it’s a father, sometimes it’s a best friend, a family member or no one! And sometimes it’s the two people getting married walking in together, like Giac & Simon did at their Polperro outdoor ceremony!

And this was just the start! They curated everything to represent them as a couple, and as you can see, there was so much joy and personality! Simon’s brother delivered the personal story section, their nephew brought the rings forward, and they blended Simon’s Jewish heritage with Giacomo’s Italian one, and their families danced and hugged joyfully straight after the ceremony. Even Polperro | Even Keel Wedding Coordinator Kim and I got involved!

This is your reminder to embrace who you are as a couple, and don’t be afraid to get creative. That’s always the best recipe for a great wedding!!

Next Tuesday, Stones of the Yarra Valley is opening its doors for the very first Stones: The Unveiling, celebrating 20 years of weddings at this beautiful venue.

Stones is where I conduct more weddings than anywhere else, so I’m very proud to be partnering with the team for the day! You’ll find me hosting in the Chapel, answering any questions you might have about how ceremonies run in there.

Across two sessions, the estate will be fully styled so couples can experience how a Stones wedding comes together. You can explore the accommodation, sample the food and wine, meet some of their wonderful wedding creatives and see the property at its absolute best.

Tuesday 25 August
Luncheon Session | 10am–1pm
Evening Session | 3pm–6pm
Tickets available from Stones directly.

If Stones is on your wedding radar, this is the perfect way to see it!

I’ll see you in the Chapel xx

If I could give every couple one piece of advice…

Slow down.

Walk a little slower than feels natural.
Take one extra look around.
Let yourself soak in the faces waiting for you.
That walk is over in seconds, but you’ll remember how it felt forever.

(This is the beautiful Lace walking the aisle, she did this brilliantly. Intention was key for Lacey & Dion, they were very present and engaged with every part of the ceremony from start to finish).

Elegant, romantic, with the most gorgeous pops of colour, Michelle and Matt’s wedding was stunning!!

As an event planner, Michelle was always going to create an incredible wedding. Every detail was intentional, every space felt considered, and everything came together so seamlessly. Even so, I was blown away by the level of thought, care and creativity that went into their day.

Just look at it. Absolutely stunning. 🩷

Not keen to go first for your vows, but neither is your partner? You could always do a vodka shot and a water shot to decide! Whoever gets the vodka, gets the Dutch courage to go first!!

Amanda and Drew did this, and even offered up the shots on a fancy tray! Would you do this at your wedding???
