That was the Shearing Shed Shindig.

Seven hours, four acts, one shed, and the best crowd we could have asked for. Thank you to everyone who drove out to White Hills on Sunday, found a spot on the grass, and stayed until the fire drums were the only light left.

Thank you to Kate Rigby, Liam Chapman, Neil Gray and Randall Foxx for the music. To Sandy Gray and Utzinger Wines for pouring all afternoon. To the Mudbar kitchen and floor crew, who fed and looked after all of you in a paddock. And to Cam at Cameron Jones Visuals for these photos.

What a Sunday at the shed looks like.

You come up the drive at 2pm. There's a glass in your hand before you've worked out where to stand. The shed doors are open, the band's warming up, and there's food coming out all afternoon — none of it costs you a cent once you're through the gate.

By six the sun's off the vineyard and nobody's talking about leaving. By nine Randall Foxx has the decks and the last of us are still in the shed.

That's Don, out with the herd. Our paddocks, our hills, our cattle — and over Father's Day weekend, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, the porterhouse comes off them and onto the Korean BBQ Board at Mudbar Restaurant. Charred over flame, $90, and Dad doesn't have to share a bite of it.

Paddock to plate stops being a slogan when you operate both ends of it.
