There’s a BIG difference between pressing play on a Spotify playlist and having a real DJ behind the decks 👇

A lot of people think DJing is simply turning up with some speakers, choosing a playlist and letting the music play.

But there’s so much more happening behind the scenes.

A DJ is constantly reading the room and paying attention to the crowd.

Who’s on the dance floor?
What songs are getting the biggest reaction?
Is the energy building or starting to drop?
Do we keep the same vibe going or completely switch it up?
What age group are we trying to bring onto the floor next?

Sometimes you can have the next few tracks planned perfectly in your head, then one reaction from the crowd changes the whole direction of the set.

That’s something Spotify simply can’t do.

A playlist can’t read the room.
It can’t see when people are starting to lose interest.
It can’t recognise when the older crowd is ready for a classic singalong.
It can’t switch things up when a song doesn’t hit the way you expected.
And it definitely can’t bring a dance floor back to life.

A DJ can.

Mixing tracks is only one part of the job. The real skill is knowing how to build, control and maintain the energy of a room throughout the entire night — without the crowd even realising it’s happening.

Two DJs could play almost the exact same songs and create two completely different nights. One dance floor might be packed for hours, while the other loses momentum early.

Anyone can press play.

Knowing what to play, when to play it and when to change direction is what makes the difference 💯
