ANOTHER LONG WEEKEND.
The last for a while.
Get together with mates. With family.
Share a Paella. Share some tapas.
Grab a bottle of vino made from grapes you’ve never heard of. Discover that it’s great.
Before that, have a vermouth. And realise that it’s a legit good drink.
Have the cheese. And the chocolate. Drink some vintage Pedro Ximénez and have fun pronouncing it with a put on Spanish accent.

A cute snap of a pair of Tigres.

This has become a little off-menu favourite here. Meaning ‘Tigers’ the tapa is essentially a mussel croqueta, served in a mussel shell.
Poached Portarlington black mussels are poached, chopped and folded through bechamel then in with sun-dried tomatoes, shallots and some of that mussel stock.
Crumbed, fried and served with saffron mayo and chives.

PAELLA DEL DOMINGO.
Starts this Sunday!

Sunday is the culturally designated time for extended Spanish families and friends to gather, socialize, and cook massive pans of paella together.

Always Lunch, Not Dinner—Paella is strictly a midday meal. Eating it at night is considered a tourist “guiri” move or a way to get reheated leftovers!

But not all of Spain agrees on the recipe. In fact what goes into a Paella is highly contested across the country. So we’re going to try as many as we can to see what your favourite is.

We’re going to start with a bit of crowd pleaser this Sunday.. and one that actually breaks a few traditional rules.. the Paella Mixta: a combination of chicken and lots of seafood.

PAELLA: pah-EH-yah

We all know what it is … but do we really?
We know it’s Spanish, but did you know that there isn’t just one Paella? There’s a lot of variations across Spain and we’re going to discover and discuss (and eat!) as many as we can find.

Join us for the first of many Paella Sundays this Sunday with in the house and on the pans.

We’ll be offering Paella as the main course for the Sunday set menu, so grab a table with some mates and join in the fun.

Petit Agour Brebis.

A fun way to get your cheese in for the day.
Soft delicate ribbons of this gorgeous Basque country sheeps milk cheese are shaved from the wheel and served on a caraway seed cracker with fig and honey.
Even if you’re full after your meal this is certainly still a doable size and great way to end.

TAPAS.

Spanish food culture is famous for it’s snacks and here’s a couple of our favourites:

* Croqueta de Puerro - Leek & smoked Scarmuzzo cheese croqueta. A staple Spanish tapa.

* Tostada de Gambas - Our take on prawn toast; A delicious prawn mousse on a with a zingy Basque pepper sauce. So good.

Tapas can be the start of a larger meal or if you order enough of them, the entire meal!
Our tapas menu is available all the through the day in between lunch and dinner so you’ll never go hungry here. You’re always welcome to just drop in for tapa or two with a drink in the bar.
