🌿 An Update from Our Little Slice of Paradise 🌿

Mother Nature has been doing her thing and after a very lush (and very wet!) season, we’ve decided to give our campgrounds a bit more time to rest, recover, and get back to their beautiful best.

So for now, our campgrounds will remain closed.

✨ The good news? ✨
Our cabins are ready and waiting, and our event spaces are open for weddings, gatherings, and special celebrations!

Event or wedding booked? Camping can still be arranged for your guests.

If you’ve been dreaming of a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature (without pitching a tent!) or are planning a special event in a lush tropical setting, we’d love to welcome you.

Thank you for your understanding while we give the grounds the care they deserve. We promise it will be worth it 🌱

The Billabong Team has unclosed the place for this special night and we all hope to see you here with your dancing shoes on. Based on previous gigs by Davy here at The Billabong, it is going to be an another epic night so don’t miss out!!

Camping: Unpowered only. $15pp. Kids free

Drink: Fully licensed bar - no BYO

Food: Nick’s amazing Souvlakis

Local Kuranda boy Cinnamon Sun (Davy Simony) returns home to celebrate the release of his new single, Love Is the Weapon - a powerful, groove-driven anthem about unity, truth, and choosing love as an act of resistance.

Blending deep reggae rhythms with soul and conscious lyricism, the track carries a message of standing together in strength and compassion in a divided world.

This special hometown performance will see Cinnamon Sun performing as a trio (with Mike Rivett 🎷🎹 , & Zoey Sutra 🪘), bringing an intimate yet uplifting energy to the stage. Expect deep grooves, warm textures, and moments of collective lift as the new single is brought to life for the first time in Kuranda.

The night will also feature two opening sets from outstanding local artists:
🌿 Toshi Sakamoto, a Japanese folk singer-songwriter with an angelic voice
🌿 Koa Dub, a live electronic dub and psy-chill act blending synthesisers, sequencers, vocals, live looping and instruments
🌿 DJ JC (Funkdafied) mixing eclectic, groove-based music, including funk, soul, jazz, reggae, hip hop, afrobeat, and latin.

More than just a gig, the evening promises connection, community, and a shared raising of the vibes.

WHAT A YEAR!!!🤩

Friends, family, neighbors, newlyweds, visitors and guests, once again you have helped us to create one of our most memorable years to date!

For anybody who isn’t already aware, and to all our future guests, we are currently undertaking extensive civil works to repair damages to our property from extreme weather events over the last couple of years.

With the quiet wet season months upon us, we’ve decided to take a much needed break so as of December 01 2025, the entire Billabong property will be closed until April 2026.

This includes all cabins and camping facilities as well as venue walkthroughs. Regular business will resume as normal from April.

We’re still having trouble getting over this wedding. 😍

Eb and Oli did absolutely everything their own way, and had the PERFECT wedding as a result. No stress, no fuss, just an amazing day and a wicked party!

If you’re planning a wedding right now, remember it should be about you two. If you want a champagne pop entrance? Have a champagne pop entrance! You want all 80 of your guests to have a shot with you as you sign your marriage certificate, then let’s make 80 shots! The more the day reflects on who you are as people the more fun everybody has!

And if you need help remembering that the day is only about you two, our wedding coordinator Carmen is always happy to swoop in with ideas and plans to make sure the day is 100% yours!

These two lovebirds are your walking breathing proof that our booking terms are incredibly flexible! Originally booked to be wed in 2022, life, babies, work, health, etc, things just got in the way.

They kept coming for camping trips and planning and organising for almost three years and finally this year, Jolda and Jayden, practically family at this stage, tied the knot in a PERFECT wedding!

Your wedding day should be the best day of your life, not the most stressful. If you book your wedding and need to change the date for any reason, as long as you give us reasonable notice, we’ll let you change it as many times as you need to with no weird “admin fees”- what even is that? 😂

Last year we were so privileged to be able to host this beautiful destination wedding.

These lovers and 4 family members each came all the way from Japan, stayed in our beautiful jungle cabins, and tied the knot on the peninsula. A private chef came and cooked the 10 of them (and two bubbies) a scrummy 3-course meal at the saloon in a super intimate dinner setting. A local florist supplied the stunning arrangements, a local beautician did hair and makeup.

All of this was possible because they hired hero ReikoSan. We worked with Reiko for months to organise a venue and accomodation package and to lock down the perfect vendors. The couple and their families simply stepped off a plane and into their wedding.

If you’re one of those people who want a beautiful wedding but don’t need 100 of your mates and distant relatives to be there, you can still have it at a large venue like the Billabong.
