Fs/studios Specialist in event photography. Photography teaches us to rediscover how we look at the world and to explore things from different angles.

A shift of perspective is often all it takes to turn something mundane into something unusual and exciting. Francine is a strong believer that photography teaches you to rethink how you look at the world around you. She finds inspiration in Travel & Culture, Movies, Movement & Sports, The Ocean, Art such as Sumi-e & Brush paintings. The underlying element in all of Francine’s photographs is moveme

nt and flow. Paired with an excellent eye for lighting and detail, the results are dynamic yet harmonious photos with a cinematic feel. Whether it is an event, a portrait or a promotional shoot, the result is a reflection of what she sees and feels with very little added to it. Her clients appreciate her talent of translating the essence of their business or themselves into stills images that can represent them professionally but also authentically. As an intuitive rather than technical photographer, Francine likes the “fly on the wall” approach. She does not often aim for big set ups. But when she does set a scene, she chooses locations, textures and items that will underline or reflect the mood and feel that she is after for a particular photograph. Francine will choose working on location over studio work as she finds it more organic, unique and “alive”. This is probably best shown in her “warriors series”. Working with Francine is pretty straight forward. As an excellent communicator she will approach any client in a structured manner from pre- to post production. She will aim at understanding what each client is after or help them define it, if they are unsure. Her approachable, easy going but confident nature makes it easy for clients to relax. Her event clients appreciate that she is a non-intrusive photographer who knows when to blend in and when to take charge. Francine’s main clients are small to medium businesses in the health, wellness & sports/movement industry and she is also a well sought after event photographer in the corporate world.

5 / 6 The Power of Professional Event Photography: shooting with intention

As I’ve mentioned many times, a professional event photographer will always ask you for a detailed brief and / or a “must have” shot list. I ask this even of my regular event clients. No brief - no shoot.

Why? Because without clear direction and intention, you could end up with very random photos that might look good but not reflect what you need for your post- event communications.

Things to include in your brief (depending on the event):

✔️ VIPS: Who are they and how will you identify them to your photographer?

✔️ SPONSORS: Who are they and do they have specific photo expectations?

✔️ SPEAKERS: Do you have adequate lighting on your speakers or will we need to use flash?

✔️ AWARDS: Are there any awards to be distributed and do you want a “looking at the camera” shot?

✔️ TABLES: If it’s a sit down dinner, which tables have priority?

✔️ STYLE: Do you prefer a candid (fly on the wall) approach, do you want
people smiling at the camera or a mix of both.

✔️ MEDIA WALL: Do you have a media wall and do you need us to take
photos in front of it? Depending on the size of the event, we might suggest a second shooter.

✔️ GROUP SHOTS: Do you have specific group shots you need us to take.

✔️ SET UP: How important are photos of the setup / location / tables / decoration.

✔️ FOOD: Do you want us to capture food / drinks or is it secondary.

✔️ USAGE: What will be the main usage of the photos (social media, web, catalogue, sponsor package).

✔️ WHEN DO YOU NEED THE PHOTOS DELIVERED: super important to communicate this at the time of booking to allow for possible expedited deliveries.

If you’re working with an experienced event photographer, they will usually ask the right questions and get all the information needed.

4 / 6 The Power of Professional Event Photography: polished images through expert editing.

In the realm of event photography, we as photographers have very little to no influence over ambient lighting conditions. While we can use our on-camera flashes to modify light, there sometimes is a limit as to how much we can do “in camera”.

Knowing our editing tools and what is possible in “post” helps us make the right decisions in the moment. This is also a reason why many photographers will NOT hand out raw images - they often are an unfinished product that, without the right editing, won’t reflect the quality we want to deliver.

Here’s only a few ways event photographers use editing tools:

🌸 Imperfection Correction: Skilled editors can eliminate distractions and imperfections, ensuring that the focus remains on the key moments and experiences.

🌸 Color Accuracy: Professional editing enhances color balance, making sure the hues are true-to-life and conveying the event's atmosphere authentically.

🌸 Refined Aesthetic: The overall look and feel of images are elevated through thoughtful editing, resulting in a cohesive and visually appealing presentation.

🌸 Sharpening: Advanced sharpening tools bring out the most important details in images, enhancing clarity and making subjects stand out. This is especially important for night time events.

🌸 Lighting Enhancements: Editors expertly tweak lighting to create a balanced and dynamic look, ensuring that every shot feels vibrant and cohesive, regardless of the initial lighting conditions.

Investing in an event photographer who knows their editing (or knows who to outsource it to) not only improves the final images but also makes sure the final collateral is of the best possible quality.

3 / 6 The Power of Professional Event Photography: It’s all about consistency.

Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing the State Library of Victoria’s end of the year thank you event. As a part of the celebrations, they had put together a video reviewing memorable moments of 2025. I recognized many of the photos as mine and the presentation worked very well as a whole due to the consistency of the visuals overall.

While event photos are specific to a single event, don’t underestimate that you’re building an extensive library of visuals over the years that can be used for marketing materials as well (make sure to check licensing and usage rights with your photographer).

And that’s when consistency becomes very important:

🌟 Brand Identity: A consistent photography style strengthens your brand's identity, making it easily recognizable across platforms.

🌟 Storytelling: A cohesive visual narrative allows audiences to understand the event's purpose and atmosphere, making your messaging more impactful.

🌟 Professionalism: High-quality, consistent images convey professionalism, instilling trust and credibility in your audience and stakeholders.

🌟 Engagement: Consistent visuals encourage better engagement on social media and marketing materials, as they attract viewers and enhance sharing potential.

🌟 Marketing Effectiveness: Consistent imagery creates a unified look across promotional collateral, boosting overall marketing effectiveness and campaign coherence.

And how do you get consistency? Ideally, by working with the same photographers as much as you can. This will mean that the style of your photos across all events will be the same or very similar. By working with the same photographer(s), you also get the same color grading, lens typical look and quality of pictures across all your collateral.

2 / 6 The Power of Professional Event Photography:
Creative vision sets you apart.

Master photographer Ansel Adams said "The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it".

In my last post I talked about technical mastery. But beyond technical skills, what gives the photos real depth is how the person behind the lens sees the world, or in this case, your event.

As event photographers we are “master observers”. Even with a run sheet and photography brief in hand, we constantly scan the room for those in-between moments that can make all the difference.

What we do without you noticing:
🔎We see the big picture AND the small details.
🔎We anticipate actions and reactions and have an affinity for capturing the right moment.
🔎We are good at spotting fleeting, impactful moments that define your event.
🔎We know how to use natural and artificial lighting to our advantage (and add flash where needed).
🔎We gravitate automatically towards the right angles to tell your story authentically.
🔎We know when to blend in and when to take charge (which highly depends on the client).
🔎We can often point out VIP’s without you having to say anything.

Investing in a photographer with a sharp eye and swift instincts ensures you capture the most memorable, compelling moments, making your event stand out and leave a lasting impression.

1 / 6 The Power of Professional Event Photography:
Technical Mastery drives perfect results.

When it comes to capturing corporate events, technical expertise makes all the difference. As professional event photographers, we are trained to deal with all sorts of environments and to adapt very quickly and think on our feet.

At this point I would like to point out that “photographer” doesn’t equal “photographer”. We all have our specialties and also choose our gear based on what our focus is.

An experienced studio photographer, who is used to controlling light and subjects, would most likely struggle in a fast paced event environment where we have very little control over the lighting and the people we have to capture.

Some of the challenges your event photographer solves without you even knowing:

✨Low lighting (or so called “mood lighting”): We use cameras with top ISO performance and fast lenses that allow us to capture ambient lighting even when a venue is very dark.
✨ Fast action: We know how to capture sharp, in-motion shots of speakers and attendees.
✨ Color balance: We know how to adjust certain colour casts for accurate, natural-looking images.
✨ Discreet flash use: We apply flash effectively without disrupting the event and without “killing” the atmosphere in the final photos.
✨ Image sharpening: Leveraging AI-based editing tools for crisp, high-quality visuals.

I always have an open conversation with my clients about lighting conditions and potential challenges to ensure best possible results for everyone.

What Steps Are You Taking to Boost Your Media and PR Impact?

In today's digital-first world, the way your corporate events are perceived can significantly influence your brand’s visibility and reputation. High-quality visuals not only capture the essence of your event but also make your content more engaging and shareable across media channels.

For organizations that host events regularly, consistently high-quality photos (and videos) can dramatically enhance future attendance. Eye-catching visuals create anticipation and showcase the success of your events, encouraging more guests and sponsors to participate next time.

Additionally, professional photos and videos provide added value for your sponsors. They can be included in comprehensive media kits distributed post-event, offering sponsors high-quality content to showcase their involvement internally, in marketing campaigns, or for future client pitches. This creates a win-win scenario, strengthening sponsor relationships and amplifying your event’s reach.

Investing in professional visuals ensures your key moments are captured perfectly, your sponsors’ contributions are highlighted, and your future events are more impactful in attracting guests and stakeholders.

Are your events doing enough to stand out? Let’s discuss how strategic media coverage, stand out visuals, and sponsor benefits can elevate your next corporate event.

What Strategies Are You Using to Strengthen Stakeholder Confidence?

Investing in professional imagery signals to stakeholders (whether clients, investors, or employees) that your company prioritizes quality in all aspects, including visual communication. This reassurance can strengthen stakeholder trust and loyalty.

Delivering strong visuals to stakeholders and sponsors is essential because it:

🚦 Demonstrates Professionalism: High-quality visuals reflect your organization’s commitment to excellence and attention to detail.

🚦Highlights Success: Engaging imagery showcases the impact and value of the event, reinforcing the ROI for sponsors and stakeholders.

🚦Builds Credibility and Trust: Consistent, polished visuals foster confidence in your organization’s capabilities and brand reputation.

🚦Enhances Visibility: Strong visuals increase exposure for sponsors, strengthening their association with your event’s success.

🚦Supports Future Partnerships: Impressive visual content encourages continued investment and attracts new sponsors and stakeholders.

An experienced event photographer will always ask you what your main objectives are for the visual collateral and should never agree to work for you without a brief.

Having a regular photographer has the advantage that your stakeholders, sponsors and venues know them which often makes collaboration between all the parties a lot easier and strengthens confidence as they know what to expect.

How Does Your Attention to Detail Showcase Your Commitment to Excellence?

Corporate events are more than just gatherings, they are a vital extension of your company's brand. They reflect your values, culture, and professionalism in real time, and help foster meaningful connections that reinforce brand loyalty and credibility.

Professionals excel at capturing the finer details that communicate your company’s standards, such as branding placements, colors, event setups, sponsor collateral, and engaged attendees. These elements are a direct reflection of your commitment to quality.

A few facts to think about:

📸 Well-organized events improve attendee experience and brand perception.

📸 Consistent branding across event materials boosts recognition and credibility.

📸 Capturing authentic moments increases attendee engagement and loyalty.

📸 Skilled photographers focus on atmosphere, not just setup, to tell a compelling story.

📸 Familiarity with your event style ensures no detail is overlooked, elevating the final visuals.

A great event photographer will ask for a detailed brief and a “must-have” shot list to ensure they deliver exactly what you need. But an excellent photographer goes beyond, identifying the subtle details that convey the event’s atmosphere and essence, creating a richer story.

Having a trusted, familiar photographer ensures that those little quirks and nuances, which are easy to overlook, are captured, enhancing your visual storytelling and showcasing your dedication to excellence.
