This weekend, music takes over Wollongong!

This Sunday, 21 June, WollCon is proud to take part in Make Music Day - a global celebration of music with free live performances & music-making.

From 10:00am onwards, WollCon ensembles will be performing across the Music Lounge, Town Hall Forecourt and Wesley Church on the Mall for a full day of music.

Come along and support some of our wonderful ensembles, including:

🎶 Conchords
🎤 Hummingbirds
🎵 Recorder Revellers
🎻 WollCon Symphony Orchestra
🥁 OffBeat Street Band
🎼 Curious Rendition Orchestra

All performances are free and open to the public, so there's no reason not to come along, enjoy some live music and celebrate the incredible talent within our community.

Why just watch when you can perform?
Students are invited to join the Make Music Day All-Star Scratch Band! This exciting, massed band performance is open to WollCon and school band students with at least one year of playing experience, and participation is completely free.

Make Music Day 2026 is a free, global DIY music celebration featuring performances, workshops and community ensembles across all genres.

Tonight, WollCon CEO Annette Brown and Deputy Chair Jake Pearson will be sleeping out on the WollCon campus as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout - quite literally in our own backyard.

Alongside other business, community and government leaders from across the Illawarra, they will spend the night outdoors to raise awareness and vital funds for people experiencing homelessness.

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a powerful reminder of the challenges faced by thousands of Australians every day, and the importance of supporting organisations that provide help to those in need.

We are proud to stand with our community and thank Vinnies Australia, Vinnies NSW, Vinnies Wollongong, the St Vincent de Paul Society for helping us help those who need it most.

Winter Music Camp 2026 is coming up these school holidays!

We’re excited to offer three inspiring days of music-making, designed for developing our young musicians.

📅 Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15 July - Winter Music Camp at WollCon
Two full days of rehearsals, ensemble playing, workshops, and musical development in a fun and supportive environment.

🎼 Friday 17 July (Day Program) - Winter Music Camp Extension Day with Ironbark Ensemble
A special extension experience for woodwind students, working closely with members of the acclaimed Ironbark Ensemble in intensive workshops and coaching sessions.

🌙 Friday 17 July (Evening) - Ironbark Ensemble Concert
Students and families are invited to attend a professional evening performance by Ironbark Ensemble, featuring an exciting program of chamber music. Discounted student tickets are available.

This is a unique opportunity to learn, perform, and be inspired by some of Australia’s leading professional musicians across an extended three-part program.

After a busy start to the year, we're excited to welcome students, families and the community back to Gleniffer Brae for a day filled with live music and performance on Sunday 28 June!

What a fantastic day at the Bunnings Warehouse Australia BBQ fundraiser on Sunday!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success - from planning and organising through to the amazing team on the day: Kelvin, Kellie, Glenn, Pip, Sally, Chris, Stephen, and Annette. Your energy and teamwork made everything run so smoothly.

Special thanks as well to Jack, Annamaria, and Michael for sharing their musical talents with the chamber group and children’s choir - it was wonderful to see music bringing extra joy to the community.

A great day of connection, teamwork, and fundraising for a really good cause.

🌭 The long weekend is almost here, and so is our Bellambi Bunnings Sausage Sizzle!

If you're out and about this long weekend, come by, say hello, grab a sausage sandwich, and help support Wollongong Conservatorium.

Funds raised will go towards important improvements across WollCon, including:
🎹 A weighted keyboard for student use
🪑 Additional seating and waiting areas
🌿 Outdoor furniture for our garden spaces
🏡 Curtains and other upgrades to make our spaces more comfortable and welcoming
