This Sunday, William “The Wizard” Pike is back in the Goldfields and riding at Coolgardie Cup Day!💛💙❤️

The Coolgardie Kid has never forgotten where it all began. Growing up in Coolgardie before going on to an incredible career, Pikey is undoubtedly one of the greatest jockeys WA has ever produced— and there’s always something pretty special about seeing him back riding in the Goldfields.

And he certainly knows how to win a Coolgardie Cup — three-time winning jockey, including aboard Crescent City in 2023!🏆Will he add another?

We’re sure The Wizard will have a HUGE following trackside this Sunday, we are absolutely stoked with the quality of fields we have gotten for this Sundays meeting!

On this week's episode of Talkin Country, Alex Vlahos catches up with Junction Race Club President Phil Kearney ahead of the club's annual race meeting. Located 155 kilometres east of Carnarvon and home to just 50 residents, Junction attracts over 1,500 for its biggest event of the year.

We also hear from Goldfields racing legend Noel Jerrard ahead of Sunday's Coolgardie Cup at Kalgoorlie. Joining us from the famous Signpost Racing Museum, Noel reflects on the rich history of the Coolgardie Cup, a race that honours the proud legacy of the Coolgardie Race Club, and shares stories from one of Western Australia's most iconic racing regions.

Want to get right amongst the action on race day? KBRC is looking for Barrier Attendants to join our team!

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role working directly with our racehorses at the barriers, helping load them safely and getting them off and away! 💨🐎

🔴 HORSE EXPERIENCE IS A MUST
Previous racehorse handling experience is a huge bonus, but training modules will be provided.

We’re looking for people who are:
💪 Physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on role
🐴 Confident and experienced around horses
⚡ Able to work in a fast-paced environment
🤝 Reliable, hardworking and great in a team
🏇 Keen to be part of the excitement of race day!
