On the dividing bench today - one of my favourite sunshine-y dahlias, Rokewood Dawn.

Out of curiosity, I popped the tuber photo up on stories today asking which of the three tuber sizes everyone preferred. Most people chose the middle sized tuber.

For planting out in the garden, my preferred tuber is the smallest one! Smaller tubers tend to get going more quickly as they don't have much of a food store. Bigger tubers are great for taking cuttings as they have a larger food store. The middle sized tuber is a good all-rounder.

All that being said - it doesn't matter what sized tuber you plant, you'll still get beautiful blooms!

We are heads down, bums up getting our dahlias dug, divided and tucked away into storage.

On the dividing bench today - Winkie Rhubarb. All these photos are from this past season, you can see the variation between the beginning (darker) and end of season (lighter) blooms! Which do you prefer?

The dahlias came through a dip to 0.8 degrees on Wednesday with minimal damage considering the low temp. I've been busy trying to knock over the rest of the tagging just in case the next frost comes sooner rather than later.

Not long now until the big dig and divide! Are you ready for the end of the flower season? 😬

Looking around the patch I noticed that I don't have many pink dahlias blooming this season so I'm curious as to what everyone's favourite pink dahlias for cutting are. I'd love to know your thoughts!

Pictured is Formby Monarch. Absolutely gorgeous but too large for what I am looking for.

Listen to that rain! Bloody amazing and much needed. We've had barely any rain since early December and whilst we do irrigate, it's not a patch on the real stuff.

Coral Isle has taken on a very antique-y cast this season, quite different from the previous seasons that we have grown it. The parchment coloured edges have let it blend in so well in the arrangements. I hope it stays this way in seasons to come!
