Hi all, Last Tuesday night was our critique at club with the subject of 'Minimalism'. I needed simplistic compositions, empty space and elimination of clutter. My prints were 'Solitary Flight' which received a Merit and 'One Tree' which received an Honour. My Digital Prints were 'Moon Perch' & 'Edge of light' which both received Honours. Let me know which is your favourite. :)

Hi all, I was lucky to view the cliffs of Pender Bay, Western Australia on my recent trip. Thought I'd share some of my photo's taken from our vessel. I used a long lens for these shots as I was on the lookout for wildlife but ended up taking lots of pics of the red Pindan cliffs. Pender Bay is located on the Dampier Peninsula north of Broome. Pender Bay is also visited by the largest population of Humpback Whales. I just loved the red cliffs meeting up with the beautiful turquoise water. Thinking I will have to frame one of these pics!

Thought I'd share the Osprey nests I saw from Rottnest Island. These are the largest I have ever seen! I was told these nests are up to 20 years old. Male osprey do most of the collecting while females arrange the materials and line the nest with softer items like grass, seaweed and bark. Included a couple images of the coastline where I also saw an Australian Shelduck and Pacific Gull.

Hi all, Thought I'd share some of my pics from the Berkeley River which flows into the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf in the far north Kimberley region of Western Australia. We ventured out this particular morning and after several days only spotting a couple of crocodiles we were surprised to see a few crocodiles along the river in the same area, one feasting on a fish and several just lounging around etc. Also I saw lots of red fiddler crabs, a straited heron and a azure kingfisher in the distance on the bank. It's certainly not a situation where you can jump out and take pics wherever you wish. :)

Montgomery Reef!
Montgomery Reef is about 20km off Doubtful Bay on the Central Kimberley Coast and the world’s largest inshore reef. It is perhaps the most astonishing marine spectacle in the country. The reef emerges from the ocean spectacularly at low tide showing rushing water pooling over the walls of the reef. I saw a few birds and turtles popping up here and there. I captured both an osprey and a tern with their catch of a fish. Crocodiles are occasionally seen around the reef.

We saw a beautiful pink orange and blue sky when heading towards Montgomery Reef on our vessel. The reef emerges from the ocean spectacularly at low tide showing rushing water pooling over the walls of the reef. The reef consists of mainly a brownish look but plenty of life when you look closer with corals and plant life. I saw a few birds and turtles popping up here and there. I captured both an osprey and a tern with their catch of a fish. Crocodiles are occasionally seen around the reef.

Hi all, I've sailed from Darwin to Broome on a Kimberley cruise. Lots to share but where do I start! Perhaps a mixture of wildlife and the rugged countryside to give you a feel of what I have just experienced. We visited a number of waterfalls and went down a few rivers from our ship to a vessel that could access these areas. Most of my photo's were taken from a small vessel or a zodiac craft. It's definitely an amazing adventure and a trip of a lifetime.

My digital images were ‘Drawn Ashore’ which received a merit and ‘Sydney Southern Swan’ which received an acceptance.

Had a fantastic day with yesterday. Saw turtles, sea snakes, Australian snubfin dolphins. We saw dolphins but they eluded me to get a head shot. Very quick to come up out of water and then they are gone. Great turtle sightings and two sea snakes! Great crew, kept us fed and looked after us throughout the cruise.
