WHY WARWICK?
Since I announced that NYX and I are packing up and heading to Warwick, I've had quite a few people ask me... why Warwick?
And I suppose the answer starts a LONG time before Warwick was even on my radar.
I've always wanted to live in the country. I grew up with horses, and I think somewhere along the way that country life just became part of me. The open spaces, animals, fresh air, dirt under your boots, big skies, and that feeling that life moves just a little bit slower. I've always loved it.
Fourteen years ago, I moved to Ipswich from the Gold Coast and, honestly, back then Ipswich kinda felt like a little country town to me. 😂 It was a change of pace from the Gold Coast, and over the years Ipswich became home.
It's also where NYX really grew. I've met some incredible people here. I've photographed weddings, babies, growing families, milestones and more beautifully chaotic children than I could possibly count. I've built friendships, found some amazing locations, watched clients become friends and families come back to me year after year.
I'll always be incredibly grateful for what Ipswich has given me, both personally and as a photographer.
But fourteen years is a long time. Ipswich has changed, and I've changed too.
What once felt like my little country town has become a very busy place. Somewhere along the way, that little voice that's always wanted to head further out into the country started getting louder.
So... I'm listening to it. ❤️
It's time to head west a little further.
Warwick feels like an opportunity to drop back a gear. Country air, open spaces, horses and cattle, beautiful old buildings, amazing sunsets, country roads, friendly people who still stop for a chat, and enough gorgeous scenery to keep the photographer in me VERY happy. 😂
But there's more to it than landscapes.
I already have friends in Warwick. There are people there I'm really looking forward to spending more time with. And there's also one very special person that will be waiting for me there.
So this move isn't simply about relocating NYX Photography. It's about life.
It's about choosing the lifestyle I've imagined for myself for a very long time. It's about slowing things down a little, finding some space, starting fresh, meeting new people, finding new places to explore with my camera, and seeing what happens when I finally give that country girl inside me somewhere to call home.
Am I nervous? Hell yes! 😂
Fourteen years of your life doesn't fit neatly into a moving box, and there's a lot I'm going to miss.
But mostly? I'm excited. Really, really excited.
I'm excited about Warwick. Excited about becoming part of the Southern Downs community. Excited about the people I'll meet, the families I'll photograph, all those country sunsets, and a very different chapter of my life.
Ipswich will always be part of the NYX story. It's where I've grown enormously as a photographer and where so many of my beautiful NYX families are. That's why I'll still be coming back every month.
I'm not running away from Ipswich. I'm just running towards something I've wanted for a very long time. ❤️
So... why Warwick?
Maybe because after 14 years, it feels like it's finally time to stop dreaming about the country life...
and go live it.
