It is a personal choice.

It is a personal choice.

Victorian MP Emma Vulin has made a personal appeal to the attorney-general to revise federal laws blocking doctors from offering voluntary assisted dying (VAD) consultations over telehealth.

Ms Vulin, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in 2024 and will leave politics the year, has been open about eventually facing a choice about ending her life.

She now uses a motorised wheelchair and at times relies on a voice-assistance device.

Currently, doctors who use telephone or video consultations to speak to terminally ill patients about ending their life could face criminal charges for using a carriage service to incite su***de.

That is despite every state and the Australian Capital Territory making VAD legal.

Speaking in parliament last year as part of a five-year review of Victoria's VAD laws, Ms Vulin used the voice-assistance device to express her support for the laws.

"I may one day choose voluntary assisted dying. That's not a decision that will be taken lightly," she told parliament in October.

"Some will choose palliative care alone, some will choose to fight for every last breath. Some like me, may one day choose to say 'enough' on their own terms."

A federal government spokesperson said VAD was a sensitive and personal issue.

"The Attorney-General and the Minister for Health continue to consider these issues in consultation with the states and territories," the spokesperson told the ABC.

"The Albanese government understands there are a range of complex issues arising out of the interaction between Commonwealth legislation and state and territory VAD schemes."

I love the connection I make with my couples on the happiest day of their lives. Through an interpreter, the language difference was no barrier in this ceremony,as love is deeper than words. Congratulations Ya-Hsien and Chris.

Presence not presents.

We spend so much of our lives wondering about time—whether it is slipping through our fingers too quickly or stretching on in ways we don’t understand. We try to measure it, manage it, make sense of it. But perhaps life was never meant to be counted in years or milestones. Perhaps its true measure lies elsewhere, in the quiet, fleeting moments where one heart reaches another.
Because what is a lifetime, if it passes without leaving warmth behind?

It is not the grand achievements or the long, carefully planned days that give life its meaning. It is the simple, human gestures—the arms that wrap around someone when words fall short, the gentle words that soften a heavy heart, the kind of silence that says “I am here” without needing to speak. It is the laughter that spreads effortlessly, the joy that lingers in a room long after the moment has passed.

These are the things that give life its depth.
In touching another soul, even in the smallest way, we step beyond the limits of time. A single moment of kindness can outlive years. A shared smile can echo longer than any achievement. And suddenly, life is no longer something to measure as short or long—it becomes something to feel.
Something to live.
Because in the end, it is not about how much time we are given, but how deeply we allow ourselves to connect within it.
And when we choose to love, to comfort, to simply be present for one another, life transforms. It becomes intense, real, and beautifully pure—exactly as it was always meant to be, for as long as it lasts. 🤍✨
