It takes a village to raise a child but a whole army to raise a HBF Run for a Reason!

Aside from the hundreds of contractors, stakeholders and volunteers that make it happen, we pulled together a motley crew of 50, who this year in particular, delivered the event magnificently.

We 'borrowed' staff from Race Roster, the Busselton Jetty Swim, the South32 Rottnest Channel Swim, Mader Port to Pub with Hotel Rottnest, World Transplant Games, Pride WA, Cape to Cape and Backroads Gravel. We had some guns for hire, from Perth, the South-West and even Sydney Marathon. We had TAFE lecturers, teachers and uni students, new grads and retirees. We had lifters and shifters, good talkers, family members and friends of friends, experienced hands and complete newbies. We had CEO's, sport professionals, event professionals and event junkies who just couldn't stay away. We had 19 year olds to 71 year olds and even some unborn future staffers along for the ride!

It was a tough gig this year with some adversity to manage, yet this crew pulled it off magnificently, working so well as a team despite many having just met. We're so proud of, and grateful for every single one who joined us and we look forward to building on this experience again next year. Thanks Team, you're the best!!

We share the thoughts and condolences of HBF on the passing of a participant in this year's HBF Run for a Reason. We start every event with the goal of getting everyone home safely and we are saddened that on this occasion we were unable to achieve that goal. Our hearts go out to Luke's family and friends, along with others who received medical attention on the day.

A huge thank you to the contractors, participants and staff that were able to assist on the day and manage the safety of all. Thanks to WA Police, St John Ambulance and Main Roads WA for their quick intervention and management of incidents and the event as a whole.
