We appreciate being recognised by an award program that:

🚫Doesn’t require votes - some ‘voted for’ awards result in wedding professionals bombarding family, friends, clients and social media to beg for votes, which can make the credibility of some results questionable.

🚫Wedding professionals don’t join or pay big💲to be assessed. This can result in only a small percentage of the industry (those members) actually being assessed.

Conversely the team at Three Best Rated advise that they won’t accept money to list a business, because they want their assessment to be accurate and unbiased, allowing a much broader scope of professionals to be assessed.

After responding to a recent enquiry from a bride to be, she replied to our email with a slightly unusual question.

She asked how long the Celebrant will be at the ceremony for.
Thinking she must be meticulously planning her timeline including vendors, I explained we usually arrive around 1 hour prior to the ceremony and leave around 1 hour after, so a total of approximately 2 hours or so.

Then I realised, she was probably thinking that snippet of time when you see the Celebrant coordinating and delivering the ceremony, was the Celebrants entire workload, and that's what the fee is paying for!
Ahe matcha But of course, in reality the ceremony is only a small part of the many hours invested into each wedding.

The misunderstanding wasn't her fault, she wasn't to know the time, care, detail and expertise that goes in to creating a really good ceremony. Maybe this is a common misconception?

Without an awareness of the many hours that go in to designing, planning, creating and delivering a great ceremony, while also overseeing the official paperwork process of ensure the marriage is legally valid, she may have been calculating the Celebrants hourly rate to be enormously inflated.

I'm prompted to share this after reading this article (shared below) on Celebrants costs which published today PPolka Dot Weddingbased on feedback provided by a number of well-established Celebrants.

Regardless of if the rates in the article are still representative, I'm curious if this is the perception of most newly engaged couples, or if this was this a one off and most couples planning their wedding are well aware of the amount of time involved for Celebrants to create an incredible ceremony.
