Red Phoenix Theatre Inc. Adelaide's 'premiere' Theatre Company. We are committed to introducing theatregoers to plays which This is the Red Phoenix Theatre mission.

Red Phoenix Theatre is dedicated to producing Adelaide premieres. For you, this means attending a Red Phoenix Theatre production will bring fresh and inspiring theatrical experiences.

If a play hasn’t previously been staged in Adelaide then it’s our honour and mission to bring it to you. You can still expect to see wonderful plays by great names such as Aristophanes, Euripides, Shakespeare, Ibsen, Strindberg, Havel, Albee, Mamet and a long list of others. There are many of their works which have never received a public performance in Adelaide. There is a growing list of modern adaptations and translations of older works which are so significantly different that Adelaide audiences deserve a chance to see them. Let’s also savour some of the dazzling contemporary plays simply waiting for us to reach out and devour them. Please join us for this exciting adventure.

So, the Mortimores sit down to sort it out like grown ups. That lasts about as long as you'd expect. A finger gets pointed. An insult gets hurled. James is a temperance man, though nobody ever said anything about his temper.

Pinero wrote THE THUNDERBOLT in 1908. Families haven’t improved since. Has yours?

A lovely family portrait. Do not be fooled.

Look at them. Sunday best, hands folded, faces like a wet week. You would think somebody had died.

Somebody has. Brother Edward, a wealthy brewer the Mortimores barely spoke to while he was alive, has left a fortune behind him. No will has turned up. Suddenly the whole family finds they were terribly, terribly fond of him.

Arthur Wing Pinero wrote THE THUNDERBOLT in 1908 and it still bites. It is a wickedly funny story about respectable people, a great deal of money, and what happens to good manners when the two meet.

Then the thunderbolt lands!
Six faces. One fortune. Somebody at this table knows more than they are letting on.
