Ready to kickstart your career in hospitality?

Imagine where you could be in just 12 weeks.

If you’ve been looking for a fresh start, a supportive environment to learn new skills, and a pathway into a thriving industry, our Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) program is ready for you!

We are officially calling for students to join our upcoming July intake. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience, build your confidence, and graduate with a Certificate II in Hospitality—completely cost-free.

📅 What your week will look like:
Monday: Placement Shifts (9:30am – 12:30pm) – Get real-world experience!
Tuesday & Wednesday: Learn with Axiom College - RTO: 40489 (9:30am – 1:30pm)
Thursday: Soft Skills Sessions at HBNC (10:00am – 12:00pm) – Build your confidence and workplace readiness.

Transport is available to help you get to your classes (conditions apply).
Incredible support from a team that wants to see you succeed.

Course Starts: Monday, 13th July 2026 (12-week program)
Intake Week: Monday, 29th June to Friday, 3rd July 2026

Introducing Coast Creators—a brand-new, FREE 8-week songwriting and performance program for locals aged 16–25!

We backed this brilliant idea when Dr Joel Spence pitched it at our Youth Pitch Event, and now it’s time to bring it to the stage.

Coast Creators is all about helping local youth find their voice, collaborate on original tracks, and build the confidence to perform their work.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to build skills, make new friends, and be part of a supportive, creative community at The Neighbourhood Hive.

Program Details:
📅 Starts Wednesday, July 22 2026 (Runs weekly until Sept 9)
⏰ 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

The countdown is ON for the inaugural Hervey Bay RSL Volley For Youth Charity Carnival on Saturday, May 30th! We have some fantastic teams ready to go, but we need help reaching our team goal!

NO VOLLEYBALL SKILLS REQUIRED!

This isn't about intense competition—it’s a social beach carnival hosted by HBNC and the Fraser Coast Volleyball Collective, built entirely around fun, laughs and community spirit.

The Quick Details:
📅 When: Saturday, 30th May, 9AM – 5PM
📍 Where: Hervey Bay Surf Club, Torquay
💰 Cost: Just $25 per person ($100 for a team of 4)
👥 The Team: 4 players (ideally a mix of at least 2 female players or 2 junior players to keep it social!)

🎭 Dress up for prizes!
We have trophies for the winners, but we’re just as excited to crown the Best Dressed Team and Best Team Spirit. Get creative!

✨ Why it matters: Funds raised will go towards HBNC’s Youth Mentoring Program, supporting local students aged 7–17 on the Fraser Coast which currently does not receive any Government Funding.

Just a quick morning reminder that all of our sites—including the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre, Urangan Community Wellness Centre, The Neighbourhood Hive, and our Play With Your Kids playgroup—are CLOSED today for the Show Day public holiday.

We hope you’re all having a wonderful, relaxing start to the long weekend! Whether you're heading out for some family fun at the show or just enjoying a quiet morning, make it a great one.

Our doors will be open and ready to welcome you back first thing on Monday morning.

Have you been out of the workforce and want to re-enter with confidence?

We are absolutely thrilled to annouce we have a brand-new intake for Skilling Queenslanders for Work program beginning Monday July 13th.

This hands-on initiative is all about building vital job skills, gaining practical experience, and boosting confidence. In this program, our students will master everything from food safety to the art of the perfect espresso—setting them up for exciting employment opportunities right here on the Fraser Coast.

A massive thank you to our training partner, Axiom College - RTO: 40489 for their continued dedication to empowering our community with nationally recognised qualifications.
